People wanted this to succeed badly.

But it's been mismanaged.

They dun goofed.
If you can't see that the very fact that TOR has retained a higher percentage of subs than almost any other MMO to date makes it successful, I don't know what to tell ya...

No. Now I need to go through my account.

2012/04/22 5:15 AM CLOSED $ 14.99 $ 1.80 $ 16.79 ... Wait a minute here... ***?
2012/02/19 1:57 AM CLOSED $ 14.99 $ 1.80 $ 16.79
2012/01/21 3:19 AM CLOSED $ 14.99 $ 1.80 $ 16.79

What's this? Seems Bioware is doing something tricky to my account and slightly underhanded...

Now I'm pissed off, I only just discovered this. So, I cancel my account in March. On April 16th, I get an email giving me 1 week of playtime for free. So I use that playtime to PvP. Then I get an email on April 20th offering me 30-days for FREE if I resubscribe. So, I resubscribe for the free 30 days. However, seems they CHARGED me on April 22nd, but won't charge me until June 21st now...

So... Bioware charged me instantly for the free 30-days and deferred that free time to the next month... That's kind of dirty.
Godwin's Law for SW:TOR -- As a discussion in the SW:TOR forums grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving WoW or being told to "go back to WoW" approaches 1.

EA DOES NOT OWN FUNCOM OR THE SECRET WORLD

So my take on this is if you were one of those who stuck it out and got a free month, you are now calculated into the active subscription base even if you canceled a week after you got it. So basically after 1.2 bombed and everyone decided no to log in anymore and canceled it still counts as an active sub. Which would explain why your fleet is completely empty.. 400k subs lost before the free month given out.. Now how many after! Thats the real question!
Since EA/BW can claim that no subscribers were lost in April (free month), that indicates a loss of 400k subscribers in two months, or about 200k per month. At that rate of decline, the subscriber base would lose approximately another 50% of its population in the next three months. That is hands down a catastrophic event. Heads will roll if that comes to pass, if they have not already.

Let us give you two additional points of perspective as it relates to our current subscriber base
and its impact on our fiscal 13 guidance. First, the current number of active subscribers, 1.3
million, is very consistent with the original assumptions we made when we acquired BioWare in
2008. Second, while this franchise is very profitable, it only represents a mid-single digit
percent of our total profitability in fiscal 13.
^ page 7

this should show you that EA doesn't care about the game at all but only about the profit margin and they see it only in the single digit for their profits
