If it's not counting free month people it's a lot more solid than if it is (if it is, then it could well be below 1m actual paying subs).
Plus several players, inc myself, did 3 month and 6 month subs. The true nature of the health of the game will not be known IMO until the third quarter reports later this year. From a total sub base figures that is.
Trust is something which is earned.

EA said they need 1 million+ people to be "HUGELY PROFITABLE" and 500,000 accounts were 'sustainable'

So 1.3 million accounts is well above 'hugely profitable'.

Having said that, they still need to do server merges. My server is practicaly dead.

EDIT: And just to add - people that are comparing WoW accoutns to TOR need to stop. WoW is a freak of nature. Compare accounts to LOTRO and EQ and COH, etc... 1.3 million accounts is WELL past what they need to be still considered a huge success.

Not good : VERY good.

Of course, it's worth wondering if all those 1.3 millon actually play.
Actually it is very good. The problem is we have 10x the number of servers we need based on our population.
Let this sink in, this game is Free to Play, boasts one of the most popular IPs on the planet and yet 76.47% of the servers are empty.

I am not saying your math is wrong but your knowledge of the market is little. MMo's rarely draw new people to play them but instead they get other players from other games to move to their game. The largest influx of players was with wow and that is because they had good marketing. So you are wrong but your math is right but Economics wise you are wrong.

Oh god, you can't be serious.

How can you not into growth?

I dont know if those numbers also include subs from the new 38 countries or if those are numbers from just before that.

Regardless i dont see how launching in those 38 countries would help them that much anyways, most of the ppl in those countries that wanted to play probably already ordered the game online at launch.

LOL nice spin but I remember just 7 days ago all the pro TOR people quoteing EAoware as saying "subs are the same as last reporting period"

Clearly they are not, they are down 400,000, roughly a drop of 22%-23% despite running massive promotions, opening in new countries, giveing away 30 days.

Sorry that loss in a quarter time frame combined with how much promotions they ran that typically do not run untill after the first 12 month period of a MMORPG is NOT good. NOT very good.

Its BAD NEWS for EAoware

Game is still functional if they can retail the 1.3 million but to do that they need to address the real issues effecting the long term servivability of the game.

And thus far they are on the record saying "none of those issues are in our forseeable future".

Least now we have hard evidence on what the corperate spin is worth!

Last week "we have the same numbers as previously reported"
This week" We have lost 22-23% of our player base."
In regards to lessening F2P and Preferred restrictions
In GAMING, as in LIFE,
You get what you pay for
No game restriction is so dire that $15.00/month will not eliminate it

Oh ya btw aion has more subscribers than swtor and we all know what failures both are.
