Consider it this way: SWTOR just lost almost as many subscribers as FFXI had at its peak.

All ships hit icebergs on their maiden voyage! I like swimming so it doesn't matter if the ship is sinking! Your cabin may be flooded but I'm nice and dry on The Fatman, so the ship isn't taking on water!

This is what I'm hearing from statements like yours.

1.3 Subs . . . but how many of those subs are active players?

Could be that 300k of those, or more are people who bought 6 month subs and are no longer playing . . .

I'm sure Bioware knows the actual numbers, and for obvious reasons are not releasing those. Are server mergers that big of a blow to the ego that they'll just refuse to do them? Do they really think that 1.3-1.4 will bring back hundreds of thousands of players, and bring in a couple hundred thousand new subs on top of that?

Someone at EA needs to suck it up and make the right call. Swallow your pride, merge the servers, and focus on growing the game back that way. Stop trying to do these bandaid fixes to try and ebb the loss of subs.

Lost subs are lost subs. And when June/July hit, they're gonna lose another huge batch as the 6 month subs/ +1 free month run dry.

So what? Your logic if flawed so if anyone has taken the blue pill, it's you.

You take the number, first subtract anyone with an active account that isn't actively playing, say, 10%? That seems fair. so 1,170,000 active players.

Take the remainder, spread it across every server (123 in NA, 45 in Europe, and 3 more for the Aussies). 171 servers, if divided equally...6842 active players per server.

then spread that across a 24 hour day.....average of 285 players on in a given hour, not counting for peak hour spikes or early morning hour drops.

So, on average, using generous estimates, 285 players are online, per server, per hour. Thats pretty damn dead.

Feel free to test that number against your server during peak hours, should be pretty darn close.
Except people play for more than one hour at a time so your math is useless.

Probably because the subs had already dropped.

"Through the end of the quarter, approximately 2.4 million units have sold through. In our last
call we indicated that we had 1.7 million active subscribers, and as of the end of April we now
have 1.3 million, with a substantial portion of the decrease due to casual and trial players
cycling out of the subscriber base, driving up the overall percentage of paying subscribers."

Just to make clear when these numbers have been recorded.
