Ummm, can you point out those 1.3 million for me? I'm having a hard time finding them.

Source of course is the MW report: http://www.marketwatch.com/story/ea-...?siteid=yhoof2

Couple that with Erickson's admission about login rates: http://www.computerandvideogames.com...s-are-bioware/

Active sub #s =/= Login Rate. I would be shocked if EA would publicly release login rate #'s, because I'm guessing that number would be very depressing.

Now to me, not looking at past history of other MMOs performance (which I dismiss on the basis that the MMO market was not the same as the climate SWTOR came into), EA investors are indeed worried about their investment in general. It's stated in the article:

"The results from “Star Wars: The Old Republic” — as well as a disappointing forecast for the current fiscal year — help send the videogame publisher’s shares down more than 8% in after-hours trading on Monday following the results. "

This does not mean the investors are solely reacting to SWTOR sub losses of course. To think that is ridiculous. However, with the company's outlook for the next fiscal year being currently negative, I see a potential positive trickle effect for us still playing. Investors need signs of change, this puts pressure on the company, and as a result they can either 1) downsize to cover potential reduced earnings and/or 2) address community needs to maintain current sub base and foster growth. And that 1.3 million current active subs does not reflect correlate with login rate which Mr. Erickson has attested to.

So I'm taking all of this with a grain of salt. Actions speak louder than words, and we will see that reflected with less threads about "server X is dead" and more with "server y is too full!(*@#".
This, exactly. +1

1.3 million still a money maker, if it gets close to that 500k mark then i will worry..
As far as the new servers go, that is in the current quarter and not part of last years total. we should see that info, next quarerly update. Typical new game ebb and flow.. I knew Tor no matter how good of a game, would not get a fresh start, to much left over Star wars baggage, allot of people expect way to much, in a new game.. we will see the same thing happen with all the new games../shrug
Do not dwell in the past, do not not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.

Expectations lead to suffering

MAPLE STORY IS F2P... We're talking about SUBSCRIPTION BASED MMOS.

F2P's do not count since anyone who created an account is counted. I've made an account on hundreds of F2P MMOs. Doesn't mean I play them or actively player them.

The only person here spewing baseless lies is you. You can not provide a single official source to back up your claim, and the best you can do actually lists the price as being less then what you claim.

Wow is at the end of the cataclysm expansion, I am not playing wow because i have done everything the expansion offers, but i will be back when mists of pandora releases, I will never come back to swtor period. Using wow as a example right now is pointless.

Also, I guess being the second biggest MMO is failing? Got it.
1.3 Million is 10% less then 1.7 million? 400,000 = 10% of 1.7 Million?
How do you measure the success of an MMO?

400,000 lost, people. 400,000 lost. Kotaku and EA's explanation below.

Quote:
One explanation for the drop could be simple: Launch-day subscribers stopped playing once their free 30-day trials were up. However, EA has not made any mention of that possibility.

Update: In a conference call this afternoon, EA said the decrease was indeed due to "casual and trial players" cycling out of the game.
Now think about that for a minute before you continue to flame people for citing articles over the dramatic drop in subscribers.
