The problem isnt the total population. Many games run fine with less people than this one has. Its that they are spread out too thin. They need to merge these servers and they needed to do it yesterday. Every day that goes by more and more people leave. My entire pre launch guild (people REALLY into this game up until about 2 months after release) left save for me. Most due to the inability to get groups up for Heroic quests/FPs/Ops.
I have no idea why they are stalling on this issue but I think they are going to be very sorry if they dont do it soon. But yeah, the population isnt bad all told. In fact its pretty darn good. Just too many servers.

Weathermen are frequently wrong, but that hasn't made them irrelevant.

The point is he was right about SWTOR--conservatively to boot.

Lol and it will be next quarter which shows the truthful state of the game, 1.2 wasn't release until the 2nd quarter, funny how it got pushed to early April, wouldn't have anything to do with the fact those who resubbed in anticipation actually made the drop in subs less painful than they actually would have been if they had of released 1.2 in march.

Shame not everyone understands its a business, but since the numbers have fallen by shed loads since 1.2 it will be clear come the next quarter how many they truly lost, unless they are praying for a miracle to bump those figures up before the end of June, lol if it's the same people who made the pvp changes, it's highly unlikely.

As troubling as the declining numbers are, I'm curious if people could actually illuminate me on a few things. Do we know the average rate of loss for an MMO currently, in terms of player retention? And isn't the 1.2-1.3 million number still fairly above the baseline needed for profitability?

Guess work will always be guess work. Don't know why any of these analysts make money, when more than half the time they are freaking idiots. Haven't half of them over the last few years been doomsaying the end of PC Gaming?

Then one of them gets something right and it's linked everywhere. Stop it. These analysts are morons.

Didnt that guy from bioware recently state that subs were not down, only concurrent users?

They have already made their money back on sales and the subscriptions that have remained.

No matter what any doomsayer says, failing is not an option at this point. Once the investment is returned it negates the possibility of failure.

Doing some math here... 1.3 subs.. I'll be generous and say there are about 5000 players complaining here so that makes it about .3% of the player population that cry foul and think this game is no good and dying....

Numbers speak for themselves.

Staying over 1 million subs in this economy is a feat in itself. I will be anxious to see how many millions total Blizzard lost in this same quarter, come Wednesday. N/A and Europe are at 1.3 million here, I would be surprised if N/A and Europe are over 3 million there. The 5-7 million asian subs really throw sub numbers off when Asia is still playing WOTLK. I could care less about any sub that isn't playing the same version of the game as me.
May the common SENSE be with you, ALWAYS!
