You might know hat there is this new fangled thing called ''mathematics'' and that even the most eeeevil rich guys that look like the Monopoly guy must realize that what matter is the overall trend

Remember that episodes of the Simspons where Disco Stu predict astonishing sales for disco albums in 1995, based on sales in 1980 ?

If TOR lose 400 subs per quarter, it's the end of it. If TOR have lost 400 subs and stabilize at 1 million, it's a underperforming product, that's all.

Let's be realistic.

EVERYONE should have known this drop was coming. People that think this is GOOD are the same people that said this game would have 2 million subs+. These people are BLIND as bats and are helping DESTROY this game. You aren't doing the game any favors by trying to argue with everyone who is unhappy.

Most servers are dead or dying. People being FORCED to reroll just to enjoy the game. Never in my many years of playing MMOs have I been through this.

Server merges are coming late when they SHOULD have been a back up plan.

1.2 completely ruined PvP and before that Ilum was a disaster.

Also, exploiters and people who took advangtage of broken systems...never corrected.

Bioware is doing all the wrong things because they don't have people who REALLY care about MMOs on their team.

Stark Trek Online lost about that many if not more in a couple months.

However most MMO's don't get anywhere near 1 million in the first place, so naturally a 25% loss is a smaller number for them.

CoH, CO, STO, LotRO, ect... All lost a lot of subs in the first few months, some went on to become F2P games, others like CoH lasted for 7+ years.

Even WoW has lost a ton of subs in the last year or so.

1.7 million out of 2 million is aound 70% RETENTION.

1.3 million out of 3 million sales means you probably kept 300k subs, because the new sales make up the remaining 1 million subs.

If the game sales are higher, it is a lot worse than that.

400k subs is a NET loss, 1.7 million or more is the GROSS loss in subs.

I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole atm. These drops were when 0 competition was out. Over the next few months there are a ton of new releases out. Tera has a rediculous amount of TOR players and that is a small game. ITs gonna be bad the next quarter.

1.3m

Which makes it the worlds second most played mmo.

That it only dropped 25% seems about right. Not everyone is going to love the game. Not everyone is going to find it to be right up their alley. But I remember at one point they said they could manage with just 500,000 subscribers. At this point, they're almost triple that number, and now they are launching in new areas.

What they do need to do, IMHO, is keep advertising for the game. New players will pick up the game. Blizzard didn't get to 11 million players overnight.

Once the server transfer functionality is ready, I expect a number of those who cancelled to return.

But the last thing is that this is just a different gaming market. There's something about these users that doesn't match up with the way older gamers used to be. They want what they want now, and if it isn't ready, they rage quit.

You can't save these customers, and you can't bring them back and I'm not sure why anyone would even want to. Frankly I'd rather pay $20/month than have those people with such negative outlooks come back. Let them go find other games to trash and expect more than humanly possible of.

And once again let it be shown that all of those who said "They're only giving away a free month to pad their subscription numbers" were once again COMPLETELY WRONG, and the subscription numbers were from the end of the quarter ending March 31st, 2012, and the next subscription numbers for the quarterly earnings call will be from the end of the quarter ending June 30, 2012, well after the free 30 days has expired.

Just another example of how some of the people on this forum have no idea what they're talking about, and their opinions should be taken with a hefty helping of salt grains.
Good point, but in March people were still actively playing the game and there were very few dead servers, In May there is a drastic difference in population brought on by the dissapointing launch of 1.2.

Yep, that's MORE than enough people to play with, and a lot of monthly income for Bioware.

They just need to reduce the amount of servers. Drastically. That would be a huge boon to the game overall.
I find your over-inflated sense of self worth disturbing.

But did any of those games cost 200-300 million dollars?
