The people in charge at bioware need to understand that they are making the game for us the players.
Not what they think we the players want, because they lack vision. They can still turn things around.

Reasons why subs are gone is:
PvP, or lack of PvP(open world pvp)
Fixing end game bugs like Raid bugs, making the raider community angry.
To easy to gear up in raids.Make gear progreassion go from one raid to the other.
No ranked WZ.
1.2 destroyed PvP because of TTK and bad class balance.
No cross server pvp/lfg FP finder etc.
Lack of immersion, were is the star wars feeling.
Actual STAR WARS gears !
Chat bubbles etc for RP community.
Game is on rails.
Better XP for lvl up in WZ/PvE.
No real space combat.
No minigames.Things to do in cantinas when not doing other things.
No real exploration.
To many walls ingame(players cant leave the worlds without dying to a wall they cant see.
To many mobs close to roads etc.
Players dont want to stand on fleet at 50, but on a planet with day/night cycle that is immersive.
Devs etc not talking enough to the community, talk about things you are working on !

With these things you will gain alot of subs !
with all that you just described, and I agree with most of it, the only solution would be to start from scratch.

Try again.
The problem is that people are looking at this very narrowly. 1.3 Million is not "failing". It's still a very good number that most MMOs would love to have.

But a 25% drop in subscribers is not good, no matter how you look at it, especially for a game that's only a few months old.

And yes, as someone else said, stock prices are based on "expectations". If the market expects you to grow by 200%, and you by 150%, then that's considered a disappointment. If you expect to break even, and grow by 5%, then that's a success. But that's also an example of why ONLY looking at stock price is lazy financial analysis, since stock prices are only part of the picture.

That's what they get for not listening and instead just arrogantly making changes that we warned them about. I was a big defender of the game until 1.2. After that, the developers proved me 100% wrong for defending them and proved that they have their heads firmly wedged in their backsides. That they've put off transfers or mergers so long out of prideful denial and wishing to avoid bad publicity is just the cornerstone of all the problems...and it made it ALL far worse that they chose to lose subscriptions instead of losing a little face with the transfers/mergers.

Maybe it's me, but I really don't see this as "disaster" at all. The 1.7 million subscribers was from the end of December. I think it would be insane to expect a 100% retention rate of those customers.

That it only dropped 25% seems about right. Not everyone is going to love the game. Not everyone is going to find it to be right up their alley. But I remember at one point they said they could manage with just 500,000 subscribers. At this point, they're almost triple that number, and now they are launching in new areas.

What they do need to do, IMHO, is keep advertising for the game. New players will pick up the game. Blizzard didn't get to 11 million players overnight.

Once the server transfer functionality is ready, I expect a number of those who cancelled to return.

But the last thing is that this is just a different gaming market. There's something about these users that doesn't match up with the way older gamers used to be. They want what they want now, and if it isn't ready, they rage quit.

You can't save these customers, and you can't bring them back and I'm not sure why anyone would even want to. Frankly I'd rather pay $20/month than have those people with such negative outlooks come back. Let them go find other games to trash and expect more than humanly possible of.

And once again let it be shown that all of those who said "They're only giving away a free month to pad their subscription numbers" were once again COMPLETELY WRONG, and the subscription numbers were from the end of the quarter ending March 31st, 2012, and the next subscription numbers for the quarterly earnings call will be from the end of the quarter ending June 30, 2012, well after the free 30 days has expired.

Just another example of how some of the people on this forum have no idea what they're talking about, and their opinions should be taken with a hefty helping of salt grains.

Remember this guy and how he was ignored?
Quote:
In an investor note released today, Cowen and Company analyst Doug Creutz said he suspects that subscription levels for The Old Republic may already be lower than the 1.7 million EA reported in February. Creutz's primary piece of evidence for this belief is publicly available server population numbers assembled and reported by TORstatus.net. These figures have shown a roughly 10 percent decline over the last two months. That doesn't necessarily mean the game has lost 10 percent of its subscribers in that time, of course, but it isn't really a sign of strong player growth, either.

[snip]

Cowen and Company now officially predicts that The Old Republic will see an average of 1.25 million subscribers throughout the fiscal year ending next March.

Too bad active subscribers does not equal active players. Quite a few ppl are still paying but they aren't playing much. When something more fun comes along what then?

lol, is it just me or does anyone else notice how every single "doombringer" in the forums just happens to have paid for a 3-6 month sub and "thats why they're still here."

Game has over 1 million subs still. No MMO other than WoW can claim that ... 1.3m are figures at the end of March, 1.2 came out in April and has been much more active since. QQ moar.

Well you can use a negative thread title as much as you would like but it doesnt change the fact that those are indeed healthy numbers.

Foundation for this MMO is easily better than any since WoW. It isnt going anywhere.

Once GW2 finally releases I think a lot of the vitriol will die down as people see its cool once again just to play the game you like instead of spending all your free time bashing other games on the forums or hoping for their demise. A lot of the hate right now seems to come from the fact that many people want to believe there is something supremely and miraculously better on the horizon that will save all us MMOers. But expectations are far too high once again and people will be disappointed.

1 out of 4 people left.

2.2 million box copies sold. 1.3 millions subs left.

Guys WoW lost 20% over a year. Swtor just lost more than this in 1 quarter. I think it's a stretch to spin this as good...

The game feel short on the guidance given to investors.
