monopolizing. 1 seller dominates a particular market.

For example, 1 seller/company buys up ALL the red color crystals on the market. This is an example of monopsony, where 1 buy buys up all the product in a particular market.

Then he turns around and lists all the red color crystals that he just bought, becomes the only seller of red color crystals (for a time). The time during which he is the only seller of that red color crystal would be considered a monopoly of that market.

I have an idea for a compromise solution!

Rather than an absolute limit on postings, perhaps a limit on the amount of postings you can make per time interval. Say, no cap on total number of posts, but a max of 50 per 2 hours?

not in any real sense is there a monopoly, because there is no stopping someone from undercutting that person constantly.

Agreed, the 50 limit is stupid and needless. All it will do is just force people to sell certain types of things on certain characters or even have entire second accounts to sell things...

The monopolizer could simply monitor the trade network and buy up every new post of that item, and relist it with his 1000s of others of that particular item, effectively creating a monopoly for anyone who wants to buy that item without finding it or creating it themselves.

and where is the problem here? players will actually have to work for the credits @_@ shocker!
These Queue things you speak of... are they a rare drop? i have never seen one. - Darth_Fu
The problem isn't the question, but rather understanding the answer.
The truth is only what you believe it to be... until proven otherwise.

Here we go again!

Another player trying to make uber money in a game to buy uber stiff to either show it off or max his toon in some way or another. Not directly accusing the OP here in any way!

I NEVER use the Auction House nor ever purchase form the Auction House. I need something I just ask my Guildmates for it and they need something I give it to them, no monies exchanged ever. That is just the way our Guild works and has ever worked. I or anyone else needs an very expensive items they we pool our monies and give it to the person that needs it.

The entire world work on money adn who has the most has the stuff to show it off, I play games to get away from it all, while playing I don;t give a hoot who runs around on the most expensive mount and who owns the most uber armour/weapon around. Geez all the Auction house does is make people richer or poorer and fuels the hates Gold farming Economy................My opinion only and call me a Socialist if you want but the North American and Euro economy would not be in this state if it were not for the greedy investors looking fro a profit anyway they can.

So I do my part by not participating in ingame greediness..................

again, as i have stated in this thread already, this does not create monopoly. this merely encourages more undercutting because your goods will sell quickly. eventually the relister will run out of money trying to relist things. if i see someone doing this, i continue to craft until that person goes broke because im getting nonstop buyouts. then, you have a situation where the relister is forced to bring his price down and now the market is flooded, thus driving down prices more as he tries to get rid of his goods.

And. . . nobody else can make red crystals? They stopped dropping after that point? That is not a monopoly. Sure, it is manipulation of the market. It's not something I participate in, nor is it something I am even a fan of, but it is not a monopoly.
I'm not a hater, I'm a disillusioned and disappointed fan.
