It's called prioritizing. Additional features and mini-games would be nice (I consider the space combat to be a bit of a mini-game), but let's look at the bigger picture of what BW wanted to accomplish. They wanted to give players a more immersive experience and greater depth of story than most MMOs typically have. That takes a lot of development resources. I personally think they accomplished that goal for the most part - it's not perfect, but it certainly meets my needs in that regard, and I look forward to them developing that further.

Mini-games, crafting, player housing, and all that extra stuff (extra for any MMO), is just that - extra fluff that would never sustain as a core mechanic in a game. It is not, nor should it be a priority at this point in the game's life. Once the major issues of the game are fleshed out and debugged, I am sure we will see more fluff added down the road, but by no means should that be on the plate at this stage - there is much more that needs time and attention devoted to it than card games.

It just surprises me that anybody who had been following the game for so long, would not be aware of what the game features were gonna be.

I too followed the game for years and discussed it at length with my friends. We read the forums and knew every single feature that was going to be included at launch and everything that they would be working on after.

All of this information was available, some of it, literally , for years beforehand.

I submit if anyone who followed the game for 3 years before and was surprised by the outcome at release, either wasn't really following the game as closely as they said they were, or is a person who forms unreasonable expectations without evidence.

Really. I joined in like October. I knew exactly what I was getting into. These guys were following for like three years, talking about it at work (which I find unsettling anyway), and did not have a clue?

I'm not understanding here. How the hell could one not know? If they loved it so much why were they not in beta?

Not making any sense and sounds more like broken player syndrome to me.
May the Schwartz be with you....

I'm inclined to agree with this. I was one of those bitter SWG players who quit after the CU and was very excited when this game was announced.

I followed the progress of this game from day 1 and my excitement died down as time went on. Once the game was released I really got into it and I do play it a lot.

In my opinion right now more than anything we need to get our servers more full. Forget gambling or fishing. What difference does that make if you only have 18 people on the republic station as I am seeing on my server right now?

All that other stuff is minor. Community should be the number one priority right now.

MMO's are all about combat now...combat and the fashion! My wife played SWG for 2 1/2 years and never killed a thing in that game.

Sadly since WoW is all combat so will its clones

Not at all. My wife was really excited about it, and she was a bit peeved to find out it was a joke.

Me too. It's not that I was particularly looking forward to polishing my ship, but at least it would have been something different to do.

"We are on the finishing stretches for this game, the first BioWare MMO set in the Star Wars: The Old Republic era. It's a spiritual sequel to the KotOR games and focuses heavily on bringing BioWare story into the MMO space. It features a highly polished and fluent evolution of traditional MMO combat systems. It has the bells and whistles of a modern MMO"

Guess hes unreasonable?
Meanwhile, in Tera general chat -

"The sad thing is, arguing with fanbois on the forums was more entertaining than their 300 million dollar single player MMO from 2008"
