Let's do a little math on server stats

I'm trying to figure out what would be the right way to calculate the average population at any given time, based on a 24 hour cycle and I encourage some statistic experts to check if this works:

1.700.000 subscribers in theory spread over 220 servers equals 7.727,27 subscribers per server.
Just for the calc let's assume subs are spread evenly over servers.
Let's assume a very low average playtime per subscriber per week of 2 hours.

Week equals 168 hours.

7.727,27 / 168*2 equals 92 players online per server at any given time. (24 hour base)

If we consider night/early morning time and calculate on a more realistic 12 hour base instead, the average online player number for usual playtimes should be 184.
This equals more or less the situation on light servers. 4 players on planets x 2 factions
17 planets * 8 players equals 136

Remaining players on fleet 184 minus 136 equals 48
48 / 2 equals 24 players on fleet per faction

Possible conclusions:
-Server numbers need to be reduced by at least 65%
-The average playtime is significantly lower as expected by BW.
-Average playtime is significantly higher, but subscription numbers are significantly lower than 1.700.000

Yeah, BioWare shouldn't have caved in to all the whining for new servers at launch. If we only have the launch servers right now the game would be in a much better state.

Easily said. Impossible to achieve with existing infrastructure.

they didnt add that many at launch really, and they have said there sorting it but 200 plus is a bit ott,, i would expect them to create alot more oceanic and asia servers which if you think clearly about would explain some of the servers becoming ghost towns due to peeps being moved from US and EU servers to the asia pacific region.

unfortunitly there are a bunch of factors that now have to be looked at like character names and what not to beconsidered if you are going to consider server merges..

2 characters can not have the same name, what do you do with someones characters on one server thats mergring into another... theres a bunch of problems that will need addresssing

Australian servers are a lot more expensive than US/EU ones. I can understand that they aren't too willing to buy more than 3 servers.

Wierd cos servers in South korea i can see being incredibly cheap compared to EU and US and that is prob where they are gonna put the rest of there hub for the asia pacific region.

Im not saying your doing this but im shocked how people think they are some backwater place when infact they are way infront of us with tech, tis odd.
