Not sure if that is common to all servers, but prices are ridiculous for custom armor...
Most of stuff won't sell if players ask 100,000 and more for level 11 gear with empty slots...

I would welcome though the longer time for posting items... at least a week would work great. And bidding would be ok too.
Deep in the human unconscious is a pervasive need for a logical universe that makes sense. But the real universe is always one step beyond logic.

Prices are high due to the low volume of crafted items for sale. Make more junk and it will all cost less. As for Legacy and vendor stuff, that stuff is well out of my price range. That is all end game stuff for me.

level doesn't matter on customizable gear, really. What matters is aesthetic. That's why the aspiring knight outfit fetches good money even though it is a low level item. To be most successful, crafters in armor and clothing had best know the fashion tastes of their server, not the level requirements.

Do you get it by now? IF a seller can`t sell, the price will go down. Or she/he has enough cash to tank.

You will adjust your prices / practices to meet the new market or go out of bussiness.

Where is the problem again? That the other guy is smarter and trying to advertise his stocks?
I don't pretend to speak for the OP, but I think he understands market pricing. I think part of the issue he's raising deals with the lack of GTN usage. You've pointed out that some people have gotten smart and are advertising in chat. But why is that? They've gotten smart about what exactly? The fact that they're using Chat to sell is, in part, a symptom of a dysfunctional GTN. The 'smart' people have realized some dysfunction and are bypassing it.

But do we really want a lot of barkers clogging up chat now? We need a solution to the dysfunctional GTN. I'm looking long term, but the OP is looking for shorter term, player-based solutions, and that's fine.

Not sure why you are having problems. In the last week I've made well over 1 mill on the GTN using it only sporadically selling maybe 1 or 2 things a day. Not because supply is low but because I just have other things to do and only go to the GTN to sell things sporadically, but when I do I make money easily

i would say a large part of it would be people pumping millions of credits into their legacy's give it abit and things will go back to normal.

Although clogging the general chat with trade stuff is really annoying, I think people do it just to make the credits 'right now' instead of 'some time in the next couple days.' Not sure how to fix that because even if there was a more aligned supply and demand on the GTN those people would still exist I think.

The only thing I can say to maybe help is post this on your server forum. I know they don't get quite as many hits as the general forums, but try and invite people to craft more and post on the GTN more often. There are people who never use the GTN, and some of those people just don't understand the need to use it for themselves. That's fine, but maybe asking server wide on your server forum could help spark interest in the credit-making aspect of using the GTN. Not sure if that would help much, if at all, but it's worth a try maybe?

Here`s the newsflash.. there isn`t a dysfunctional GTN. It lists what you put on it.

ANYONE with ONE brain cell would and SHOULD check for ALL sources of the product she/he needs to buy. If anything, the guy in general advertising is desperate.

How a smart buyer should proceed: take all into consideration, but DO NOT take general as gospel. SO she/he goes to GTN and looks up the prices for the product.

Thus, it will STILL see the price and pick the lowest one. NOTHING HAS CHANGED.

However, IF the buyer is goaded or convinced to NOT look on GTN, then the seller is smart. The buyer might pass a better offer on the GTN that he SHOULD check in the first place, to see if the advertised price is really the best, or bogus.

We have a non-problem. Smart buyers will always check for the smallest price on GTN. Not too smart deserve every scam that can be pulled against them.

[EDIT]Case study: How about if I am looking for an assault cannon augmented? Let`s assume I see everything listed for 500k a piece. That is over-optimistic pricing, since it`s normal price is no more than 150k. I will start advertising WTB with my price (for the sake of argument, I will try to buy at the correct price, not capitalize on the fact that they aren`t selling and force a lower price). It is my right and necessity, to try the water for the smart guy that wants to actually sell, not bank on my unexistent stupidity.

Am I not allowed or even excused for trying to secure a FAIR deal for me, on an obvious overinflated price, based on "let`s lower 1 credit from the lowest price?". Because there is no chance in Hell I will buy at anything higher than 10% of what the correct price is.

do you guys think that some of the prices are that high because of the recent financial exploit?
