I won't stop driving my car because through some twisted logic someone clams it's all based on a horse and cart. Games Workshop didn't actually invent Orcs either.
The situation between Games Workshop and Blizzard is fairly more direct than you're allowing, though. I don't know if this is because you are unaware of the history between the two companies, or if you just refuse to accept it because then it wouldn't fit into your generalist arguments and perspective.

This game is already a clone of WoW. I strongly encourage everyone to try out Guild Wars 2 if you want something fresh.

Saying Everquest is the reason WoW exists is just as stupid. They share no code at all, no backend infrastucture, or artwork. They're both MMO's, that's about it. People get nostalgic about old MMO's, but without the rose tinted glasses, they have to be seen as what they were - a bit crap really. Especially compared to today's games.

I own several old arcade machines from the 80's and 90's. I love playing Centipede, Metal Slug, etc, but they're nowhere near the technical achievement of something like Mass Effect 3.

People are asking for things used in WoW for a reason: They work! There's a reason WoW has 10 million or so subs while SWTOR has under a million (as it's rumoured) - the reason is that they're doing stuff players like. If players didn't like it, they'd all leave. I left WoW, and I left SWTOR - but I played WoW for about 7 years, and only played SWTOR for a few months before I got bored of it and irritated at bugs and other issues. Bit of a difference.
I think the part you are missing here is they were only doing the same thing the originally quoted person was doing, the people you are trying to chide with this were using a more poignant example of this by using the very same logic that he did.

Edit: As a side note you are trying to compare when you I am assuming you came into WoW (seeing as you said you were there for 7 years and seeing how WoW has been out nearly 10). If my assumption of you just recently leaving WoW is correct that would mean you would of gone into WoW approximately 3 years in after a lot of the things they had added content and convenience wise were already in game so you are trying to compare a game that you started with a three year lead time to one that has just begun and is less then 6 months in??? Sorry but that logic just don't work out to anything substantial other then just flakey.

Yet again another "WoW is dead" prediction. It won't be "dead" - in fact it'll still be going for years as yet whether you like it or not. I don't play it any more, but I still have a lot of friends that do. I no longer know anyone in RL playing SWTOR - one of the reasons I left. The server I was on pretty much is dead. You could try another server... genius

With the panda/Pokemon expansion, Blizzard are obviously going after a different market.. I'm sure they've researched it and it'll push up subs, not drop them.

One thing I do believe is a good idea (and Blizzard never added) is to allow the player to choose whether to queue for cross-realm dungeon finder, or just queue on their own server. Cross-realm groups did serious damage to the community in WoW - and will in any MMO.
So wait wait wait, you chide her opinion and tell her she is wrong for stating an opinion as fact then turn around in the same damned sentence and do the same thing??? Bwahahahahaha, ooooooh the irony.

Seriously if you are going to come to the ballgame at least try to come to the game with a better strategy then that.

Are you serious? This game is a WoW clone, just done on a smaller scale like Rift.... You start off taking quest from an NPC that holds your hand thru the follow the breadcrumb trail from one quest hub to the next.. All the way to End-Game where you grind dailies and flashpoints to get better gear to do raids, then only to turn around and do the same thing over gain under hard mode........ THIS IS WOW in a sci-fi skin.. Lets not fool ourselves or others.. lol

Incorrect, WoW was initially intended to be Warhammer with its IP licensed to Blizzard from Games Workshop. Games Workshop for some reason pulled the plug on Blizzards IP license and never looked back while Blizzard then decided to alter enough of the game to not be directly linked to Warhammer and was then licensed under the blanket of the Warcraft RTS series.

Congratulations. You also described every single RPG that is out as well. Skyrim, map markers point you in the right direction, Final Fantasy, Mass Effect, etc.. They all do now. Your argument is garbage

Duel spec -> 1.3.2-1.4 probably.

All these things were added for very good reasons in WoW and dealt with very real problems SW:Tor has now. Blizzard actual tried to resist them and find ways to not use them at the start. But once there were in they all became very popular.

These are items you should have just learn from watch games before you why they are important.
These 3 "tools" solved nothing, but opened the door for elitist players who now run wow. The game has become a job, where you MUST deliver like a small minority of progamers - if you dont, you get kicked out of groups, insulted etc.

Right after the combat log was added to Tor, I saw people complain about damage. Now that those recount meters are available Tor is most likely moving into the direction of wow.

It is sad, as the game had great potential - I guarentee everyone that all those people that demand, addons, LFG, Dualspec etc. will go back to wow anyways and hardly anyone will be left.

I wish BW would have had the guts to keep Tor away from wow - and build a community of players that are a bit older and follow the original way of playing MMO´s...

Money talks and the real MMORPG players will walk, leaving the C0D crowd to rot in another wated game. I honestly hope that won't happen but if it does this will be the last MMO that I will ever buy
