Oh how i find this hilarious, everybody complained that they did not have enough servers, they added more and everybody spread out to much, then everybody complained not enough people so now they are gonna give FREE transfers to more populated servers, and now you complaining your FREE transfers are not gonna happen in the next 3 seconds.

not just part of their beta testing but it will be an integral part of their game.

That way you can play with your friends even if they are on different servers. The only restriction will be in World vs World (server vs server) PvP matches.

They also have a waiting room in which you can do light PvE instead of waiting in queue. You adventure while waiting for spots on the main server to open... wah!

Early Summer = around July

I don't expect transfers for another 2 months or so.... because if they plan on doing it sooner they would of given a date....
F2P is like driving on a long stretch of highway with toll booths every 1/2 mile

People will abuse the transfer system if it's just completely free. It's just the reality of human nature. Even with a 30-day transfer "cooldown", they will move all over the place to the "fad" server and further complicate things.

They have the correct idea - implement free transfers that aim to fill more empty servers, and paid transfers for anyone who wants to.

The free transfers, if done logically, would allow people from 3 or 4 servers to transfer to a single one, "filling" that one up. Of course, they might as well merge servers instead of doing this, specially since players on the few heavily populated servers won't move out, but some players might then ***** about not merging into the server they wanted or something. The TOR community can find any excuse to whine about anything.

The timeline does seem too far off. If it's something like late June (start of Summer), they have been sleeping on it for sure. Transfers should be their highest priority, and should have been ready for early May.

no, thank you. i am on a low pop server, and i like it. letting those that want to move, for free, is the best thing.

That's nice, now I'm wondering, will it transfer your legacy or just your character.

Agreed. Guilds will die and frustrated players will leave - BUT, these might be nothing more than "acceptable casualties" within Bioware's long term strategy.

Sure, YOU and YOUR friends might quit. YOUR guild might die; but, once a sustainable server transfer model is put into place AND if the core game-play features remain attractive, the population will stabilize and grow: players will join, new guilds will form and stronger a communities arises from the remnants of the old. The world keeps on turning.

I say "sustainable" server transfer models because, let's face it, If everyone were given free transfers to go wherever they pleased, we'd end up with 2 or three "Super servers" with queues at all hours of the day and a whole slew of ghost servers. You know what they say: "the rich get richer and the poor get poorer" - I don't see why the same wouldn't apply here.

BW's only obvious mistake (in hindsight) was opening up way too many servers. Pro: smooth launch. Con: what we have here now. I do appreciate that they're not taking the knee jerk approach and going straight for server merges. One step at a time.
