For me with Artifice, the endgame relic I can craft is BoP only. Im sure other crafts have the same thing.

The only purpose for level limits on un-modded orange gear is to "lock/unlock" specific looks. I'm not sure if that was the goal or this is an un-expected consequence of adding orange craftable gear.
What I want: 1) Dual spec for me and my comps 2) missions where I fight with all of my comps at once, we are a team 3) playable comp-only missions 4) Free flight PVE and PVP Space combat (i.e. X-Wing multiplayer) 5) Instanced areas that change based on our story, sand-box areas that are open.

Big no to this idea, the beauty of orange gear is that no matter the level of the item it's just as good as any other orange with the right mods letting you use whatever you want, no orange should be inherently more valuable except maybe having something like a unique sounds, nothing in the way of superior stats.

I agree, but the problem and solution is that there needs to be a preview for weapons, problem solved.
The Chaoticas Legacy -The Shadowlands Server - (40k kills)
(Havaos Jug 50) (Devaos Sorc 50) (Vorhen BH 50) (Venaos Sin 50) (Xaos BH 50) (Zorgen Jug 50) (Zataos Mara 50) (Gwaraos BH 50) (Xenaos Mara 42) (Tavaos Sin 50) (Jenaos Snip 41) (Scaraos Op 27) (Ravaos Jug 31) (Xinaos Sorc 32) (Dreadaos - Jug 22)

I want to add making the level 50 and level 20 versions of the new "customized" weapons different. Unless they already are, in which case totally disregard this - the icon looks identical between the two.
The average person thinks he isn't.

I think the OP has a valid point, in that the weapon shells themselves, especially for lightsabers, have a hard time being any more or less distinct from their level 20 counterparts.

A good solution here would be to focus on aesthetic ways to give the end game weapons an edge over the lower level counterparts, such as a lighting effect, a small npc pet linked to the weapon that follows you around, a unique sound effect, etc.

Also your comment about "sound" on the sabers. Ok I didnt know that one, but again, no way to preview the sound or looks of it. If that was added, that would be good.

Im just saying, for the most part, it feels like there is no point worrying about high level oranges. Now armor oranges, ok. Those one least SEES the difference in armor style. Now with the talks about how it would "ruin everything" I doubt that, TOR is still early in its life. Just right now I do feel its wasted time trying to make level 50 oranges.. when its not different then lower ones. Unless someone would like to educate me how they are different or worthwhile?

because theyre rarer and people (especially in games like this) crave the uncommon stuff...

Not only the look, but the sounds they make too! I hate finding a good looking weapon with a stupid sound I have to hear all the time.

Yeah, I gotta say, I have a 50 saber with an augment, and while you wouldn't notice the difference in looks if you met me in game, I notice the difference in looks as it swings at my toon's hips all day every day. (Before that I had kept the same saber for like 25 levels, so when you change something - even that small, it gets pretty noticable.)

it makes crafting the lvl 50 one pointless unless you just MUST have the different look...I'm an artifice and I was baffled at why would I spend so much creds goign after the lvl50 mats when most are just going to buy the cheaper lvl 20 augmented one over the more expensive augmented lvl 50 because the mods are what matter for stats.

and sabers are about as low on the "look" list as shivs or knives..you barely see them unless you purposely look close....so again the lvl 20 one is going to be the one bought the most..since it's cheaper.

but what can ya do? that's the downside to the orange mod-able gear system we have...why pay 200k+ creds for a lvl 50 saber when that 60k cred lvl 20 one will have the same stats? (even if the sound is the most noticable difference)
