Orange Sabers need adjusting since they are all the same.. level 20 is same as 50.

I think the orange "shells" are being somewhat misunderstood...

A point was made that a lvl 20 orange saber should be more valuable than a lvl 50 saber because it can be used longer. The counter is that the lvl 20 saber is therefore also more common, and someone might argue back that there is value in the scarcity of the lvl 50 saber. In this respect, I think it balances...

I really only view the lvl differences between the shells as nothing more than an indication of what level materials it requires to produce. Having shells that span multiple levels allows more flexibility to the crafters and the value is really in the diversity of the material that can be used to make an orange-class shell. I think this concept is typically what people are missing; the level diversity is nothing more than a material gathering convenience to the high-level crafter.

This is the only difference, and depending on the looks, it may very well be that the lvl 20 saber is in every way superior to the lvl 50 one.

But I don't see why that's a problem, just because something is higher level doesn't mean it automatically has a higher value, at least not in this game. The fact that it costs more to make a lvl 50 version isn't really 'my' problem as a buyer, I don't care how much it cost you to make, what I care is how much I'm willing to spend.

If I'm on my lvl 50 Guardian, and I see both the lvl 20 and lvl 50 saber, I'll buy based on appearance first, and cost a close second. For example, if I like the lvl 50 a little bit better but the lvl 20 is half the price I'm likely to buy the lvl 20. The fact that it cost twice as much to make the lvl 50 simply isn't my problem.

On my sage, I still use my basic "lightsaber" I crafted at the forge on Tython.
On my shadow, I still use the one I got when I trained and got my first dobule-bladed one.

No alignment required and is all the same to me...

Maybe one day I'll get my hands on a crafted one with an Aug slot. Small details that matter not.

Top sirloin? You mean topside? I wouldn't eat that. Especially if it was mechanical

would be nice, that on top of the sound and hilt designs, that the saber blades themselves would be slightly different.

Thinner, sharp tip vs blunt, etc.

It would be a headache to implement, considering how lightsaber blades are generated within the client.

I've always believed that a force users lightsaber should be a very personal weapon.

With the system as is: any that are 'orange' grade can yield the same in game effect with proper mods / hilts / etc.

The tool has also always been such an iconic identifier to what the user is. And on a more subtle note: the hilt design can reflect some things about its wielder, such as style. The "feel" of it staying this way is, in my humble opinion; very important.

Well if we dont talk stats, then what could we do or add to orange shells to make them different?

Just for the most part, no one will examine your char and go "WHOA" at the name of the orange. As for sabers.. if you are busy fighting in pvp, doubtful you will be looking at how it looks either. Also not like TOR has a /pose emote yet for weapon holding poses. (Would be nice tho lol and no, I dont mean "Z" key either for poses)

Hell.. could be cool if you could make yourself be left handed or right handed too heh.

He should say whatever strikes him as an honest response. Leave your moral grandstanding where it is welcome.
