Rakghoul Plague Outbreak Ended - Surprised by this?

I am sitting on 56 DNA Sample that I didn't get a chance to spend. Not a huge deal, but kind of a bummer still. It was'nt clear to me that the vendor wasn't going to stay for some time after the end of the outbreak (hey maybe if the devs didn't try to be funny and talk about the end of the event as "the end of the outbreak" then it would've made more sense).
Well, not the first time it happens. Same happened to me with the geologist vendor - missed the announcement, world of regret now. BW loves doing that.
Wanted to play Darkness Assassin way before it was fotm

Bioware always posts notices in the stidky threads at the top of the General forum. So the information was there. As well as quotes about the future of the event vendor.

Not to mention players still has the plague and still spreading it, I logged in at the Black hole quest area and someone exploded and infected me, so what am I supposed to do with the stack of DNA now?
Now that GoergZoeller is gone, buff operative.
SWTOR going F2P, now playing SWGemu.

To the TC, no, totally not surprised.
The ending of this event has been announced since last week, on several fronts (dev tracker/forums/site announcements, facebook, twitter, fansites) so it's been fairly obvious to anyone who checks these places every once in a while.

If ingame is your only source of information about the game, then yes, you might be surprised.

But people need to put in the effort too if they want to have everything, to be in the know, if you don't, then it's entirely your fault for not paying attention to all the signs around you.

I've said this before, but find at least one source of information if you're going to have these issues, either the facebook/twitter, or get a fansite bookmarked so you'd know if something like this event was happening or ending.

Make the extra effort, it only takes a few seconds of scrolling to find out about a new event, you can spare that much time a day if you're playing the game.

I would think that someone who bought the game and paid the sub to play the game would have a realistic expectation to have the game communicate with them especially when they had announcements going over the loud speakers through the whole event. Those same news announcements in game took place right up until the maintenance. I understand that there are lots of forms of information, but some people bought the game and just want to spend there time on the game, not the forums, facebook, twitter etc. That being said I read the forums so I knew about the end date, but I am repeatedly shocked by the number of players in all games who do not read forums or follow oin facebook.

If the game is your main product, communicate in your main product.

This. Stated perfectly in a single line.

I'm with the OP. Sometimes I just go to the game instead of reading the forums. And in my stolen time at work, for the past couple of weeks I've spent a lot more time reading and writing to the Daily "What The <Heck. OK, not really "heck", but ask your mommy what 's the naughtiest word she can think of>" forums than SWTOR.

It would have been nice to leave the little Jawa around, and nice to send out in-game mail or an announcement.

But it was fun. I liked the plague a lot more than I thought I would, particularly blowing up on imps in WZs.

Not everyone reads these craptastic forums, they could have posted it in the launcher.
