for my first character, i never spacebar'd and i made fun of people on the forums who said that they did so. to me, it was a story driven MMO, and if you can't enjoy the story, then what are you doing here? i was smug in this knowledge.

then i rolled an alt, and i lasted until level ~30 before i started hitting that spacebar for nearly everything, even some class quests. it was as if i knew what the npc's were going to say, or maybe i just stopped caring, as the end result is always "kill 12 dudes over there", or "pick up 5 boxes". i also have been pushing "2" for voiced responses, because they generally are neutral and won't result in companion affection loss... usually. even then i don't care because i have so many gifts farmed up that it just doesn't matter.

my name is darth_gao_gao, and i spacebar everything. i would also like to apologize to those i insulted previously.

edit: i realize that i didn't even answer the question. if you are still reading: i don't slam the spacebar. i give it a moderate but firm tap.

It depends. I only have one level 50 so if I do any class quest on a different toon I watch it, but if its a quest ive already done before on my previous character- mostly a side quest i spacebar through..and oh man doing heroics in a group? yeah you better spacebar through ;p

I don't play games for the story, i play for the features and game mechanics and the world.

I won't presume I am the only valid type of gamer, the above is merely what I prefer.

So, I spacebar through as much dialogue as I can (sometimes being in a group slows me down) because it's boring.

If it was up to me they would have taken all that money spent on boring voice dialogue (boring in my opinion only here) and spent that money on the actual gameplay.

I don't because I learned something my first time through. Dialogue choices shape a character's story quite a bit - especially with regard to companions. As examples Quinn, Jaesa and Rathari were all one mouse click away from my Marauder eliminating them at some point. All three were originally marks as part of the class story line, and all three eventually contributed key rolls in plot twists late in Chapter 3. Roles that would not have happened had I not consciously sacrificed some DS points to manipulate the story earlier in the game. Two of them are now faithful 2-player FP companions who I would have killed had I just blazed through the dialogues. And Jaesa is my character's only companion that provides a bonus to synthweaving.
Can we please just have our pre-KotFE SWTOR MMORPG back?

Planet stories I'll skip through. I already heard them on each side.

Class stories, sorta. I'll get the jist and read ahead of the spoken dialog and spam through. Since I rerolled in a new server skipping classes I've already done completely.

You know, not trying to be rude here, but why would you play a game based largely on story if you dont like story?
Its kinda like someone playing Forza Motorsports 4 even tho they hate driving games, but they do it so they can paint designs on the car and then complain that the devs spent so much money on the physics in the game instead of the paint editor :/

I have 16 alts and space bar NOTHING. I LOVE the cutscenes EVERY TIME!

I will occasionally "space bar", but only if it is a quest that I've done before and I know what options I'm going to take. Usually, though, I enjoy watching and hearing the story unfold. In fact, when playing other games, I miss the dialog.
