ummmm, this games death penalty is not that sever. The fact that you can self rez yourself in the same area makes questing in this game very easy. They have reduced the repair cost, which I was a fan of seeing as people dieing due to stupid bugs and then having to pay for it was really getting n my nerves. You want to see a mean death penalty? Go play a SWG EMU and see what a really death penalty. What you just grinned 100k XP for your Jedi tree and got took out by a Bounty Hunter and you lost all the XP you just spent hours grinning up? Well sucks to be you.

I don't see why it doesn't just go up in 2's instead.

Died once - instant ress.
Died twice - 2mins till ress.
Died three times - 4 mins till ress
Four times - 6 minutes till ress
Five times - 8 mins
six times - return to med centre only option.

This. Seriously.

You can also repsawn at area start/medical droid, and it resets your timer. Trust me.

There was one time I kept dying over and over again like a baddie. It was very late in one of my class quests. The one time i was truly stumped on it. not giving spoilers, but if you are a Sith Warrior, you probably know of whom I speak.

I think you'll find that the idea is when you get to 10 mins is that you spawn back at the med centre. I really dont think you're meant to wait 10 mins. Who gets solo'd by a mob in this game anyway, you run away for 50 ft and they leash. if anything the ease of escape needs to be toughened up.

I think OP's original point was more the sudden jump from 1m 30s till ress to 10minutes. That's a heck of a jump. All he's saying is why not 1m30 then 5min30 then 10mins?

All I'm saying is if you die 3 times in short sequence, you probably need those 10 minutes to re-assess what you are doing. Maybe hit up the forums and do some research.
Again, I've been there a couple times in my months playing

edit: If anything, I think the 10-30 minute jump is too brutal. Although even if it were dropped to 20 minutes, I'm not calling the medical rez after the 10 min death, I'm starting over anyway

This. In FFXI, I hated this system at first but then I grew to love it. It's not neeaarly as harsh as some other games, but it's still a pretty big spank when you don't play carefully.

This game needs more of a death penalty, not less, in my opinion.

Losing XPs would be a pain, so no, that would be quite harsh.

Technically, being killed (or knocked unconscious as you are revived), does damage your gear and this is a penalty in credits. Also, in other games, you have to do the corpse walk which can be a long and tedious affair. I will admit that I have never seen or heard anyone do a 10 minute corpse walk so I think that is harsh as well.

Best solution? Not sure anyone has it. Corpse walks are used by WoW and with their large gamer base, they all accept it now as a kind of default. Makes more sense in the SW universe to be reawakened (remember, you are not dead, just unconscious) where you fell but with a penalty (maybe the bot that helps you needs to recharge or something).

Anyway, this may change eventually but I have no idea what would be better but I am saying that there must be some kind of penalty to "failing".
