Never really understand death timers myself. Not sure what the point is supposed to be. (a timer to stop zerging is one thing, but 1m 30s easily does that)
Real Star Wars space combat please, not Star Wars Fox! Maybe some PvP and flight too?

Does the timer reset on its own eventually? Or do you have to visit a medical droid to reset it?

I could say something silly like take up smoking then .. *j/k*

Its not really necessary for it to got to 10mins so quickly and I have been there a few times, its no fun ... and really isnt that what its about ... fun?

Could be reduced a bit more for those players that find the game harder than others.
... No, I'm not the droid your looking for!

I have never seen a 10 mins timer on that XD You must have died lots of times, man. Maybe try to increase your playing skills or be more careful :P

I remember every planet being tough to break into, I turned up slightly under levelled each time. But by the time I got to the end of the 1st area the rest was plain sailing.

My advice if you are dying that much is to go back to previous areas, do some heroics, side quests that you missed, get commendations, upgrade your gear and the gear of your companion and get at least one more level.

Then go back and you should have an easier time of it.

You'd be surprised. Try losing 3 months worth of game time in Eve Online due to one careless mistake on your part; 10min is nothing.

i think he was talking about single player games where you just reload a save

i've never played WoW but every other MMO i've played have much harsher death penalties.

Theres nothing more painful than getting some lag and watching billions worth of implants and credits or actual skills go down the drain if you forgot to update your clone, but that was all part of the fun

Sure, if I'm not paying attention at all, which has happened a handful of times ever since CE headstart. I then either kill them by cc'ing one if I'm on a 50 toon, or I run away and let my companion take the death while leveling. Use a medpac if you have to. Regardless, you shouldn't be dying so often that you see the 10 minute timer, which is really just a thing for "you're so far out you'd rather alt-tab for a few minutes than slog through tons of trash again for this single quest objective" mercy freebie.

This subject is actually hinting at a very core principle: challenge in gaming.

Challenge within the context of a computer game is such a subjective and emotive thing that there is no right answer. The main reason for putting "challenge" in to a computer game is to ensure the player gets a "good feeling" when they complete the challenge. When we complete a challenge, we feel proud of ourselves, the brain releases chemicals to say "well done!". This hooks us in to the game and makes it enjoyable.

The problem is, whats challenging for one person is too easy for another and too hard for yet another. Without the challenge, there is no warm fuzzy feeling, and with too much challenge it just becomes frustrating.

Because everyone's gaming abilities and perception of acceptable challenge levels are different, there will always be people complaining. From the sounds of it, the OP is finding soloing Corellia too challenging and has thus become frustrated - a negative emotion. The average user in this thread seems to have found Corellia acceptable so have offered hints/tips to the OP.

No matter what Bioware do, they can't please everyone.

As to how this relates to the medical probe cooldowns, it again relates in to challenge and overall game design and the players approach to game design. Traditional RPGs have always involved an element of challenge and a penalty for failure. Whether this be loading the last save point, restarting the mission or whatever, adding a penalty is designed to inspire you to play better and improve. But, that design philisophy only holds true when the content you are playing through is supposed to be entertaining in and of itself, i.e. each quest should provide you with a good feeling for completing it. If this is not the case, and content is merely there to tell a story and take up time, then challenge is not needed.

This is where the conflict in philisophies comes in with MMOs. There are many many players who do not want challenge in their games: they just want to play through the game to enjoy the content (storylines) and see the world. There are many others who want the same thing, but also want to feel good after completing a challenge. This is why most MMO developers adopt the strategy of making 99% of their game a complete walk-in-the-park, this allowing most of their players to see the majority of the content. Then, they add on the endgame, usually the only place that offers a challenge and thus rewards the player with a good feeling when they beat it.

Currently retired due to poor design decisions within the game that have killed its longevity. Get rid of Hickman before he ruins the game completely!

Wait,
Technically it is fining you!, with real life money!

You see, the more time you spend wating is more time with no gameplay, which makes 10mins of your subscription go away, which costs money!

So, I don't have time to do the maths, but I sure if I sat through 4 10min waiting time, I'd lose uh... some monees!
But then you could just wait 5secs instead and have gameplay back up, which would take less time anyway!

So, all I am saying is.......... BE SMART!
