They fixed all the frame rate issues but the loading times really are just a joke. Morrowind on consoles loading times were insane , TOR is even worse than that. There have been lag spikes every day since 1.2 as well, I guess they happen at roughly the same time as the servers get more use.

I am not a gifted code developer or network guy, but I know something is wrong at the core. So many people with awesome machines state the game is at a low FPS, long zone times, and crashes. Others with mid and low range PCs say everything is great.

The hardware that seems to help the most is not the GPU but SWTOR software being loaded into a ram disk or placed on a fast SSD. Can someone explain why this is...even for people with 7200 rpm drives? Sure ram is faster than SSD which is faster than HDD, but what is actually taking so long to load into the game?

Anyone know if this game runs better in a 64 bit OS as opposed to a 32 bit OS?

I'm running this game on Win 7 64bit and it is still extremely temperamental when it comes to frame rates. I don't know how it functions on 32 bit.

I wish so much that all these game designers/former game designers etc etc would get off the forums and go make the perfect games that it's so obvious how to make.

This particular genius knows so much that he has to guess where they got their 3D engine from and what they did with it. I know nothing about making games but the engines called Hero, the dev's heavily recoded it for their needs, there's a load of blogs and videos about it.

OP opinion is only slightly less useless than all the people posting 'this is why I unsubbed', you don't even play the game but you hang out in the forums?? lol

Fail
"Not...possible!" Vader muttered, starting to crawl toward his own weapon. The left side of his body armor was dented inward as if by a giant's fist, where the kinetite had struck. "Such power...in a child. Not possible!"
DDE confirmed 08:15 21/7/11, gotta think thats 5 days EA!

a good post, and i hope it gets noticed. the loading screens are crazy, and the insane pauses that occur in world pvp are just bad. i was recently in an operation to kill a world boss, and as i approached my group, i had to wait what felt like 30 seconds before i could move as my computer struggled to render my friends. i also didn't even need to use the map on fleet during the rakghoul event - just drive towards the lag.

While I'm not a game designer or a programmer, I completely agree with the OP. My take on loading screens and the poor performance of this game is this.

There should be no loading screens, why? We are in 2012 now, technology should be moving forward. We should not be stuck in the past. Loading times needs to be reduced. Why? Not everyone can afford a SSD or know how to install one or update the firmware.

The animations are also not that smooth. An example would be if I used an ability on a mount, there would be a brief screen freeze. WoW did not have such problems 7 years ago when I played, so for some reason this engine is clunky despite not having high-end quality graphics.

The game is playable now, but I hope in future they will fix all performance problems.
Stopped reading when you said "WoW"

Man, your original post is spot on! Dunno how long before they delete this though as it's bound to upset somebody.
Oh and for the record, it feels as though they "stealth hired" that Bobby Kotick scumbag and put him at the helm. A lot of what's going on in this game now just stinks of his type of ideas on what a game should be.
