Yeah, if you quantify the amount of time you spent, yes, there was a fairly large investment. Like others have said, it's more common to leave event vendors for a day or two after an event ends than to just remove it. But, 15 year olds in the summer time do have a lot of time...

Untrue. The standard in MMOs is to keep even vendors around for up to WEEKS after an event ends.

You can disagree because you want your black green color crystal to sell for more, but that's all it is.

People earned this currency, and if they were busy for 3 days, should be able to spend it, just like they would in 90% of other MMOs.

I understand players saying that the vendor should stay gone. That means that their items will have a higher value, and they will be rarer.

I don't understand BW following that logic.

Fire your PR person if they haven't chimed in on this on the side of "get that vendor back in for a week or so".

I am always an advocate for in-game information.

Just a couple of ideas - the news announcements could have been on all spaceports (similar to the ones on the fleet), they could have also mentioned that officials are very certain the be able to contain the plague within x days.

Other than that I would always leave the merchant for another couple of days in general. It's a re-occuring thing popping up after every event, even the yearly/seasonal ones.

What exactly are the negatives to keeping the vendor around for people to spend their DNAs, that were not around for 3 days?

Besides the fact that the items already bought will lose a slight amount of value?
The event has to have an end date. The end date was very clear. You can't expect them to cater to every sole who plays. If you had stuff to do over the weekend or Monday, then that's your issue, not Biowares. If they had the vendor stay 3 days longer, people would still complain it ended. A firm date was chosen and applied. You can't cater to eveyones needs. You had the exact same amount of time to acquire and spend your samples as every single other person.
That's why they call it space, cause there is so much of it.

I have a couple hundred Rakghoul DNA that I have not spent. I thought I would be able to use it today. I only heard that the last day would be the 24th from friends and expected to be able to have TODAY to do what needed to be done.

Games like RIFT had a world event vendor in the main city that made it so people could purchase what they needed for MONTHS after a world event.

Please bring the vendor back.

Thank you.

Though i could give a damn either way since i got what i wanted from the event, Trion Games did it right when they just moved the stuff onto the World Event Vendors in the main cities.

my 2 cents.

I'm not selling anything.
I got 4 pets for alts, and 3 crystals for my alts. Knew the event was ending and sold my left over DNA before logging out.

Common Sense does state that when an event ends, EVERYTHING is gone. The problem is this generations self entitled opinion of themselves. Common Sense unfortunately isn't so common now a days. Just because some other games have spoiled you, doesn't change that fact that common sense says when it ends it ends.
Now had you said based on other games we thought that it would be around longer that would be different.
You'd be basing it off past MMO experience not common sense.
Also that would go out the window too, because this is a new game, not any other game and has no past history to base such conclusions upon.

Common sense still states when an event ends, it ends. COMPLETELY.

I vote no. Let this event die the fast death it deserves. When it does come back....I can hope they know how to do it right next time.

i play on a low pop server; nobody ever says anything in /1. Often I am the only person online on the planet.

I feel that they did a terrible job communicating the length of this event.

SWTOR.COM IS STILL ADVERTIZING THIS EVENT AS IF IT WERE ONGOING

I logged in today expecting to finally play this new event that i haven't had time for, and it was gone.
It really doesn't matter whose FAULT it is that i didn't know about this, here are the facts: I didn't know about this and now I've missed out. I feel alienated, and I question the value of continuing my subscription.

I know I am just one guy and my sub doesn't mean much, but I don't think I am the only person who feels a bit burned by this.

Yes. The event had an end date. At the end of an event, you can't gain anymore event currency. Oddly, enough, you still can, but that is besides the point. Say there is an event: "New daily quest where you go into some area and can earn "SUPER TOKENS". You can spend SUPER TOKENS on stuff from the SUPER TOKEN vendor. At the end of the event, you cannot get a quest to gain SUPER TOKENS. That's the end of the event. But. .... I you still have SUPER TOKENS. Why would the turn in end when the event ends?

It's kind of like if you had a sales job and they had an event: "Earn a SUPER CARD for every day you make X amount of commision! This lasts a week! You can turn in SUPER CARDS to the designated SUPER CARD computer and get some crap." So by Wednesday, you got a bunch of SUPER CARDS but had a vacation scheduled. "All good, I'll just turn them in when I get back. I know I won't be able to get more because the event ends on Saturday night, but I've got enough."

You get back on Tuesday, and see that the SUPER CARD computer has been removed from the breakroom.

Yeah, that makes sense.

You go around saying, "Uh, I have all these SUPER CARDS, why can't I get my crap?" And others that didn't have a vacation say, "Well, on Friday, they said we needed to turn them in, or be stuck. I'm glad, because if it were brought back, all of my crap wouldn't be as cool".

Fantastic.

Yeah that's not going to piss anyone off.
