Fed Up With Weekly Downtimes

WoW had weekly downtime for years, and you failed to notice this? Servers require maintenance, bugs require fixing, new idea need to be implemented. Such is the nature of an MMO. Again I have to point out how ridiculous it is for you to claim years of MMO experience and yet be oblivious to the weekly maintenance schedule which most of them follow...

On topic, maintenance times are becoming a show stopper, loading times are crippling pvp entry into warzones, patches are breaking existing code and the subsequent additional downtime has no mitigating defence.

Euro and Aus/Asia players are being dealt a rough hand by the persons responsible for scheduling the updates, it's about time they shared it fairly with the largest whinging nation on earth i.e. their largest player base. We could all then sit back with a beer and watch with glee as these forums fill up with discontented US Players. Oh the irony
No trolling is saying things like "The server is USUALLY down 2 times a week".

Excuse, me I'm going to go put some Hot Pockets in the microwave, then I'll be back.

This thread is very entertaining while I wait for the servers to come back up (and yes, I have read ALL posts so far).

Thanks, everyone!

Ah thanks! I will and back to the game now!

Ok, so now before I log in I just want to say, as someone who plays at night, and for whom 2am is a large chunk out of MY prime play time, I feel for the OP and all of those affected.. but, the fact is 2am is the time that affects the LEAST number of players. I don't like it, I hate it.. but I understand it, and it's only once a week.

Now, to the OP that only has 3 days a week to play and one is a Tuesday, is there ANY way you can reschedule your 3 days to not fall on a Tuesday? Because as much as it sucks for me, and 100 times more for you with your limited playtime, the fact remains that all MMOs must do maintenance weekly to keep things running for us the rest of the time.

what the Op might be getting at is the idiotic global maintenece times...no other game i have played has that kind of global down time

WoW had split maintence for EU US and oceanic afaik and that how it should have been....the extended maintenence they had a couple of weeks back ruined a whole day for the EU subscribers...game was down from 9am CEST(CST) till 11 PM....afaik the EU server park is in Ireland or something so BW should be able to reschedule it to fit EU Timelines

and WoW before i quit actually had maintenance once every 2 weeks(unless there was a needed extra maintenance for a patch or something) 1st week patch and maintenance 2nd week just a regular server restart that took max 15 mins

I'm a West coast dad with 3 kids and a wife. I don't start playing until 10 - 10:30 pm on the 3 nights a week that I let myself play. Unfortunately, one of those nights is Monday night which falls on their schedule every damn week. And with my luck, another night is Thursday which also had maintenance last week. Very frustrating indeed.

Anyone know why they require weekly maintenance times? This is my 5th MMO (DAOC, WOW, WHO, Rift), and none of the others were down like this. And why can't they start it in the wee hours of the night at say 2 - 4 am? Midnight is still relatively early.

Anyway, as much fun as I'm having with SWTOR, this maintenance is close to chasing me away. Has BW given any indication that this is a temporary deal, or is this maybe not the game for my schedule?
There is one of you in everytime zone.

BW/EA is doomed.

Well until people mature up and just deal with the issue.

What this thread, and indeed these forums show, is there is a worrying amount of anti-social people playing MMO's these days.

considering you let yourself play three nights a week.. it would be a good idea to change one of them from tuesday so you dont have to worry about it

Second. Problem is not the frequency of maintenances (that is perfect IMO) but its globality, should be US at their night, EU at theirs night and Oceanic ant theirs.
