there is no feel of old school rpg . with that i mean you log in and you feel totally immersed in a open world world with every village you come to with its problems and quests , your spoon fed content from the moment you log in .there is no sense of vastness , allmost feeling lost in a big world .feeling lost can be pretty fun , thats what this games missing imho . even the raid instances are all packed into 1 convient corner for you too choose , there no sense of traveling far to the evil wizards tower .

A community makes a mmo a mmo.

Even with all add-ons, "dungeon-finders" , whatever..if community does not use it it wont make it more social.

There is already a LFG system in SWTOR, it takes the community to flag themselves for that FP/OPS/role and it takes the community to check the social function for people that are LFG flagged. People dont use it. Not fail of Bioware but fail of community.

There's an option to make a custom non-regional LFG/chat channel. It takes the community to make it, the community to make it remain active and the community to spreak the word. The community fails at that too.

Now about stuff that has nothing to do with community, even with non-linear world, day/night circles, more events and whatever it still would take the community to interact with one-another but instead they prefer to quest solo, outlevel FP/HC and run it solo, KS quest mobs/objectives so they get stuff faster then the other person.

So my point is, what could make SWTOR feel more like a MMO, how about treating it as a MMO and not as KOTOR 3 ?

They should actually have some RvR in it.

Space combat being something other than an offline single player game would probably help a lot too.
Real Star Wars space combat please, not Star Wars Fox! Maybe some PvP and flight too?

Cross server PVP.
LFG functions beyond chat channels
More social hubs other than the dreadful fleet.
Day/Night cycles
Animated skyboxes. (It's star wars. How many of us want to see a sunset on Tattooine, or watch an epic battle unfold in the sky under the starlight)
More social features such as fully customizable player housing(customizing and furnishing our ships would be just as acceptable)
More guild features. Guild leveling, guild symbols, guild armor.
Fully functioning achievement system and UI
Social integration of our characters to a web database. Similar to the WoW armory.

Some of this stuff is being worked on, some of it isnt to my knowledge.

People don't use it because it's terrible. There is no defending it. It's an outdated system and even free to play games have a better LFG system. I haven't seen anyone on my server use it. When I tried to flag myself I had better luck using chat channels.

Online gaming is more or less about matchmaking these days. People want to find a group with the least amount of effort. Who can blame them? I absolutely loathe spamming chat channels for groups or refreshing my /who list to message the 5 people that are flagged for a group, 4 of whom are AFK.

Actually this I would like.

In WAR I did not care about questing or warzones. I was in the open tier warzones all day long with a warband/group.
Now that's socializing all day for a nice reason.

(and yes there is something called "open pvp zone" but Ilum is not really a joy)

Every planet should have RvR, even the starterzones. (does not need to be whole planet but a Tier lake for PvP perhaps)

The biggest issue to me seems getting people to group and get to the entrance of an Heroic

When I first came to Coruscant - getting to an Heroics entrance was not conducive to social play
People had to hang around waiting while the rest of the party fought their way thro mobs

The "summoning stone" concept that wow had was a great idea to help people get to instances

Even the the ability to use warlock summoning was a brilliant idea

In this game - heaven forbid if it is on a different planet too - this really breaks the game up I think

Maybe a SWTOR universe chat and summoning system could really help the social side

Yeah most of that stuff would help.

Somethings need big changes though; take guild ships - in a free roaming PvP space situation they could be amazing. As a static guild hall they are very meh. But we can't have the prior without having free roaming space combat first (and I can't see that coming outside of a full on expansion now).

Summoning may break somethings, but it certainly helps grouping, there's little doubt about that. It can take a long time to sort out a group in SWTOR, even with players that regularly play together. The time wasted isn't immersive, it is usually just annoying.
