Telling you do go to the Dune Sea would have countered the whole point of it.
Lol I agree. After the news reports kicked on at the fleet saying to stay away from tatooine thats exactly where I go. If you use your brain you should know to look in the dune sea if something big was going to take place, its completely neutral and it wouldnt be as epic to put an event like that anywhere else.

Well if you spent more than a minute on the fleet, you would hear the broadcast about rakghouls. If you paid attention you would see the interactable news stations on the fleet in the hallways and would click on one and then from there its pretty clear.
Its all the force's fault.

Corso is my sidekick..or more specifically that little monkey you dress up in a tux and sit in a corner to look interesting but in reality doesn't really do anything.

Instead of berating the OP for missing the event because he tends not to use Fleet, how about some suggestions that BW could use for the next event. For example once they had created the web announcement they could have put a link to it on the game launcher, something with a nice rakghoul picture that would grab your attention.

Also, while a daily unlock was fun for those who got in early, it should have been a server unlock so that by the end the entire thing is available to everyone. I did think the progression was oddly constructed though, the elites you had to fight were there from the start and the quest chain did not build to a finale - this seems backwards.

The event was cool, but the "discovery" portion was poorly designed and i'm not surprised that someone totally missed it.

Most MMOs utilize feeder quests which are practically inescapable in order to kick off the event.

Subsequently they usually run a linear quest storyline which contains the main plot points and guides the player through obvious references to the other area or daily quests included for the event.

I think the Rakghoul event would have been more enjoyable for a greater number of participants with the following changes:

1. Obvious feeder quest.

2. Linear progression

3. Less restrictive daily progression (ie. allow completion of the newly unlocked daily, PLUS all previously unlocked dailies each day. (this allows everyone to complete the event, not just the people who started early)

4. Get rid of RNG reward selection.(no one needs 6 Corso Riggs customization kits)

There are a huge number of first time MMO players in this game, as well as a huge number of casual players...BW needs to take this fact into consideration when designing these events.

All it takes is paying attention.
when i looked at the launcher there was nothing there that said an event was going on

This is why general chat was invented. If exploding in a cloud of green goo didn't clue you in that there was something strange going on, I don't know what to tell you. If you watch a clearly new broadcast on Tatooine and can't be bothered to ask what is going on in general chat, I have no sympathy for you.

I got the plague... figured out from the dna that I needed to go to Tatooine... got there, and other than a news reel that told me nothing, there was no indication of where to go next. I expected to see something in Anchorhead to point me the rest of the way... and found nothing.

That was all I'm trying to say... with a game full of quests and markers on the maps to show you where to go... I expected that something like this would have a similar guidepost. It had none. I'm not asking for hand holding... I'm asking for enough information to know where to go to start the main quest chain. That's all.

... and if there's more to do at level 50 than dailies and pvp (without a group), I'd love to hear it.
I take it your not in a guild? Cause as soon as I heard broadcast I did /g wth is this plague? and boom had my answere.. I got 2 pets and 7 crystals 3 +41 Expertise 2 +41 Power and 2 +31power..

To bad you didnt goto the station cause you would have seen a bunch of people all huddled togather giving eachother the plague. Got 5 dnas per explode. Got 3 explodes per hour. So 15 dna an hour..

Plus for sub 50 toons it was GREAT XP. and with all the fleet time it was almost all rested xp...

Sorry you missed out...

Events where they don't hold your hand is actually a breath of fresh air.

Semi off subject but MMO's are linear now, not an open world in any form. It's sad.. following little green markers on your map isn't much for the RPG aspect. I didn't play EQ or anything when it was actually still a quest to do a quest. But it would have been fun, the MMO "revolution" is kinda stupid.

There will one day be a game that will compare to EverCrack.. it just has to be a lot more like it then not like it.

I guess FFXI is a terrible game then because that game didn't even have in game crafting recipes, yet alone an official forum where people could get information.

sigh.
