Ramayana you are awesome and I love people who look out for other players.

I haven't noticed the downtimes effecting me but I'm a vampire so I'm probably still asleep when they're being done. I think they're doing a great job with this game.

The reason there were two long maintenance periods last week, which I believe all players received additional game time for, was because the Tuesday maintenance following 1.2 going live rolled back several of the updates.

Every mmo company manage the maintenance base where their company located. Bioware has 2 location (Alberta Canada or Texas and both are Mountain Time Zone) and they start the maintenance at 2 AM mountain time zone. Blizzard is located in CA and they start the maintenance at 3 AM pst or 12 AM (patch day).

I believe most game companies are located in CA. However Arena network is in seattle while NCsoft is in Austin Texas and Tribute is located in Chicago.

Oh no! The servers are going down once a week (sometimes 2 after a patch).

Are you ok bro? Do you need a tissue?

Weekly downtime is a fact of life in any MMO worth playing. It's necessary to keep servers operating effectively.

Your work-life balance is a personal problem, not a game problem.

I'm a West coast dad with 3 kids and a wife. I don't start playing until 10 - 10:30 pm on the 3 nights a week that I let myself play. Unfortunately, one of those nights is Monday night which falls on their schedule every damn week. And with my luck, another night is Thursday which also had maintenance last week. Very frustrating indeed.

Anyone know why they require weekly maintenance times? This is my 5th MMO (DAOC, WOW, WHO, Rift), and none of the others were down like this. And why can't they start it in the wee hours of the night at say 2 - 4 am? Midnight is still relatively early.

Anyway, as much fun as I'm having with SWTOR, this maintenance is close to chasing me away. Has BW given any indication that this is a temporary deal, or is this maybe not the game for my schedule?

^^^ This. SOE, Blizzard, and Trion (I think) are all California so their maintenance times are good for you.

Just be happy the Aussies don't out number us! Downtime would somewhere around 5:00 pm to midnight central time

Would serve you right, we get 5pm to late every week for all MMOS (ok maybe its 7pm till late but thats hardly better)

I actually LIKE the downtime as it is now, servers are usually back up by 8-9pm here and i can play for a couple of hours before bed. They should make it earlier

Um, they do start at the wee hours of the morning.....2:00AM Austin Time (where the servers are located) for scheduled maintenance.

And... almost all MMOs do weekly maintenance cycles, including most if not all of those you rattled off as your prior MMOs. Weekly maintenance is an important part of managing server farms.

So maybe you need to go back and check your notes on games like WOW. The difference for you is that WOW servers are located in the pacific time zone.
When you find yourself surrounded by hostile Clowns... always go for the "Juggler" first.
