Um, that ability is already in the game. You have to actually, you know, talk to an officer in your guild for an invite, however. In my guild pretty much every player has multiple alts in the guild. When someone rolls a new alt, they send an officer a tell, and we have a question or two to verify their identity, and we invite them and give them their proper rank.

No, i swear, i am not trolling. And I think the situation that i describe could have happened to many people (don't know if it is extreme, really). And all i am asking is something that in my opinion, i think is simple, just to send an in-game mail to your mailbox, that would be enough to be sure everyone knows that something is going on. And it doesn't have to be like the cold text you receive when you google, you can even use the mail as an excuse to do something like: " To all imperial citizens: An extremely urgent warning for your safety from Imperial Safety Services, more information in Vaiken spacedock" should be funny and enough.

If you have access to the game, you have access to the internet.

Not that hard to find a fansite or check the SWTOR facebook/twitter for things like this, doesn't take long either.

They do announce the content periodically at the most neutral location of the faction, the fleet via terminals and voice/text announcements.

This was a discovery event, meaning players are given the chance to find things out themselves instead of being handheld to checkpoints the entire time.

Yes, they could have done a whole bunch of other stuff, but the content does have a level requirement of sorts as the mobs are at least 25+. Any less and you probably can't complete it anyways.

Again, can't really say this is that favorite of a game for you if you didn't know about this even within a day or two of it being implemented. It's not even my favorite game and yet I knew about it within a few hours via fansite/facebook/websites. Get a fansite/facebook/twitter bookmarked, and check it when you're using the internet normally every once in a while. If you want to be up to date, you have to make the effort too.

No worries man. Happened to a guildie of mine too. He was too busy leveling an alt to open his eyes to what was going on and what was being discussed on guild chat. No argument that its his own fault there. I also agree that an in-game message like what you get from the guild on log in would be ideal for some folks. "Welcome to SW:TOR please enjoy the rakghoul event happening now on Tattoine". Real simple and doesn't give anything away. Plus it helps those who wear blinders.
"When the game is over the pawn and the king go in the same box".

What I mean is something just as simple to receive a Mail. I don't mean an in-game Mail telling you EVERY aspect of the surprise, but something as simple as: "The Imperial Sanitary Service Adverts: A plague is..." That's all. Enough to be adverted, but not destroying the surprise, you know?
its spammed like every 5 minutes in fleet.
