The problem is the mix of high damage and high survivability. You can't have both.

I read these posts and I truly wonder if people realize there are 3 types of Mara/sents out there. I don't know the Republic versions but....

Two main types of Mara's, anhilation and carnage. Anhilation can fight more toe to toe and work with their dots. I don't know the spec tree that well as all I have played is carnage. But they do have a lot of staying power. Really the only boost they got was from the expertise change, some have and use ravage others don't.

Carnage (my maras spec), I consider a true skirmishes class who's soul goal is to stay deadly and mobile, come in hit like a Mac truck, finish them if off if you can, back off a little recover your cool downs, maybe escape if you are being focused on... Point is, if I'm caught right. Go down quicker than ba toilet seat. As far as ravage is concerned, it's a 4k attack, expertise makes it deadlier. Pre 1.2 ANY class would shrug off and laugh at a carnage Mara, now they are actually a threat to some and deadly to others.

Rage maras, don't know hardly at all, other than they have a long set up for a big aoe attack that is easily avoided.

They problem is blending maras with all three skill trees, as well as, mixing us with assassin and jugs. Also, contrary to popular belief, it's more than two or three buttons to play a Mara right. Remember all those defensive CDs everyone qq's about? Well that's 5 buttons right there alone and they don't last forever so you have to mange them. As well as your offensive cool downs, and your health meter (which is critical for a Mara to utilize correctly).

So you think Mara/sents are in god mode with only a few buttons? Well go roll one and get to the post 50 game you will quickly find to play a Mara it's a heck of a lot more than just 5 buttons.

the marauders are fine. All they need to do is remove some of their defensive cool downs. For example, the 3 min. cool down that increases their defense for 12 seconds

Why do people always say -- ' well, Marauders take a lot of key-binds so they should do more damage than others!'

Really? We're gonna adjust the power of classes according to how many key-binds they use?

So what if Marauders have a lot of binds? So does my Assassin. My Assassin had all 4 hot-bars full at level 35, and the majority of those have a binding. My Sorcerer also has all 4 hot-bars full at 50, but is lacking about 2-3 binds compared to the Sin at 50; although every single key is used. My Powertech, granted, has only about 80-85% of the bars full at 50, but does that mean that since my PT is the easiest to play it should be doing less damage?

The Marauder is the Jack-of-all trades, except usually those who can do everything only do so averagely -- the Marauder exceeds at everything they do, from survivability to dps to utility. That is where the problem lies.

Oh really? Our utility is bleh, we're still fairly squishy, and yeah our dps is fine.

Why? Because every one keeps coming in here acting like its a one button i win class.

And. Assassins and shadows when utilizing all their abilities are tough to kill, same with any other class. Problem is people don't know their classes

Well, I'm not saying that. I understand that it has a more complicated rotation than some other classes, but probably not more so than any other class that is played well.

That said, I understand marauders are not a 1 button I win class, and I still think they are way stronger than two thirds of the classes in the game -- by a VERY wide margin.

I am willing to be anything you think they can do too well is an acception. People also see one mara do something and another do something and most mara's look alike, and suddenly we are the 31/31/31 class... Caranage Maras are exactly that pure unadulterated carnage if they get in your face. Especially if your are a light armor class. Anhilation are more of the toe to toe sustained dps.. and all mara's play defensively going in to a fight and what I mean by that is that they dont go "OH WOOKIE DER ME STOMP"... they pick their targets and always keep in mind when to pop their defensive CD"s or hit the escape button.

Leave a Mara unchecked to kill your sages and sorcs, guess what they are going to die if they dont know how to keep one off them. Simply put they are mage killers....
