epic load times

So as we all know tatooine and the future planets have loading times that can only be described as epic, enough time to go make dinner, have a shower and post on the forums.

are there any plans by the devs to reduce these loading times or are we stuck with them for having such huge open worlds?

I'm guessing either your HDD, CPU and/or RAM are slow. I've got no problems loading those planets, the load time for Tatooine is what? 15-30 secs depending on what else is running on the computer.

It's alot longer than it was pre-1.2. Space loads are crazy too, you load in about 1/4 way through a mission.

Am I the only one who remembers the loading time of a game on the Vic-20 computer?

Alderaan seems to take the longest for me at roughly 45 seconds. The rest usually range from 5-30 seconds.

I'm getting 1 minute or more load times but I was getting those shortly before 1.2 dropped. My hard drive started malfunctioning and things were taking longer to load. So I had to replace it. Unfortunately circumstances forced me to replace it with an older hard drive that doesn't have nearly the storage space. The load times improved but it is still taking awhile.

Your harddrive is what's bottle-necking your loading speed. Only by getting a SSD will loading speed further improve.

When I was in beta I realised that loading speed was going to be a problem (reasonably so considering how massive each planet is), and so I got a SSD.
