Ok, by the white/yellow/green/amber color coding used by torstatus.net for Light/Standard/Heavy/Very Heavy this shows 62% of EU servers are Standard, Heavy, or Very Heavy and 38% are Light. How does this show that the server populations are too low?

How does this show that the populations are too low? [Hint: March of 2013 is approximately one year from now.]

I'm probably going to unsub until server transfers are in.

I love SWTOR, but Bioware takes their sweet time changing things that are detrimental to the game succeeding. This is a big deal to a lot of people and needs to be top priority. The population issues and the lack of a cross server LFG feature are both game breakers for me, and I am not sure how long I will keep paying for something that remains broken.

If you define game population as subscriptions, then you have not presented any evidence to support that there is a decline.

I fail to see your point. It's not an issue of hiding behind semantics: BioWare has been very clear and upfront about how it defines an "active subscription." Moreover, the definition follows a de facto standard used in the industry. Everyone understands that not every subscriber is actually an active participant (and this is true for any subscription based service, regardless of industry). From a financial perspective (which is the only context in which subscription numbers are relevant), why should they not count every paid subscription, regardless of hours played? Finally, even if you wanted some other measure of the subscription base to get around the difference between active and inactive players who maintain a subscription, how would you do it? If somone has paid for 90 days, has 45 days left, but hasn't played for the last 30 days, how could Bioware predict whether or not that person is coming back?
You're splitting hairs. If you want to continue to believe that the game is in great shape and in no danger, go right ahead. The evidence is in front of you. Believe whatever you want.
Attention forum moderators: I am not a troll, I'm just stupid.

We need a date...not an answer like "soon" or "we are working on it"...we know that you are working on it...

Also, you guys should prioritize merges over transfers so you can control the servers better. Just my 2 cents.

merges wont help you control more so than transfers.

Transfers will be the easiest to control. Merges can only happen 1 to 1 which means after the mergers, you could end up in a 2 hour queue and there is no real way to predict that.

Transfers can be turned on and off and can have many servers go into one or one go into many... Mergers are so difficult and risky, I am surprised so many people advocate for them

That's what people have been saying here in the forums since pre-launch. We get that you don't enjoy the game. But no matter how much you would like for the game to go under with your departure, the world does not revolve around you and SWTOR will, surprise, do just fine without you.

going off on a non-whiny tangent ...

ignoring implementation details but assuming a multiple server shard model, what are all the problems we associate with population (too high or too low)?

Here is a starting list:
  1. long queue times when (re)connecting (too high)
  2. not being able to find players to group with for a mission (too low)
  3. long WZ queue times (too low)
  4. items don't sell in the GTN (too low)

What other major issues are associated with population?

Mr. Hat says "BW support is the best"!
I am a bad player, so what?
