I don't think it would at all be shocking if SWTOR was down to 1.25 million subscribers one year from now. What I really want to know is how they make this prediction. From the article, it seems like they pulled the number from thin air.
Like I said, whether it was true or not. Could be BS, who knows.

It might bring back some people, but I'm not sure if it would be significant numbers. There's always a certain percentage of customers who you only have one chance to keep. If they leave after that one chance, they're never coming back no matter what you do.

I myself tend to be the type that once I quit, I never come back and any change made after that is too little too late. With that said, I'm still happy with the game for the most part. I thik the Bioware devs, for the most part, deserve kudos for a game well done. There are some aspects that deserve criticism though.

Server transfers may help some, but it's not a "cure all". I for one will not pay for a server transfer and I'm not keen on rerolling toons that I've already invested a significant time in.

Server merges could certainly help some as well, but again, it's a temporary bandaid solution. At least with server merges you have a chance at a higher pop and once the same server LFG tool comes out, there will be some added convenience to forming groups. I still believe the queues will be long though on many if not most servers, that its affect on retention will be minimal at best (I'm sure it will be fantastic on high pop servers though).

Speaking solely for myself (though I've talked to many in my now dead guild of 175 people who agree), if there is no cross server LFG/LFR tool by the time I finish all 8 class stories (end of the year at present rate) and if my 50's still have trouble getting groups in a reasonable amount of time, I will be gone and any change after that will be too little, too late for me.

As for the discussion by others on 1.2, just to throw out some 'anecdotal evidence', my Republic Server consistently had about 50 people on fleet during peak times before 1.2 came out. For a few days after, it spiked up to the 60-70 range. The last few days, it's back down to around 40. My Imperial Server on the other hand has remained steady between 150 and 180 depending upon the time of night. And some would say that Imp server is dead. In that case, what is my Repub server? LOL. Make of the above what you will...

I for one advocate that you all "jump ship" if you are unhappy with your server population. I have already left my low population server because flashpoints and PvP took far to long to get in on. It is sad that we must do this and i'm sure the dev's hear our crys about how we cannot enjoy the features of an MMO on our low population servers. They want our money and i'm sure they are working hard on cross server warzones and LFG tools for flashpoints. Until they address these problems the only solution is to ditch your server and go where the population is.

Since 1.2, The Harbinger has had 10-20 minute ques again during PST prime time. If this is a result of "server population dropping" I wonder what will happen when the population starts to increase again???

Daily user TRENDS, based on a whole load of assumptions.

Even the creator caveats the data.

Scepter of Ragnos has been totally dead for a long time now, way before 1.2 the problem was obvious and the realease of 1.2 has changed nothing 40-70 people in the fleet at peek time in my opinion is shocking.

Bioware need to address the issue if they want any more money from me it really is that simple.

I don't know what this means.

Which F2P game are you referring to? The offline combat log is what the overwhelming majority of the community wanted. The thread that polled the community about this had at least a 3:1 ratio for offline logs, based on the damage combat logs had done to the player atmospher in other games.
Sorry, I was typing this up in my lecture on the phone last night due to excessive boredom and I think the auto correct had a field day.

The increase of player numbers I sincerely doubt it is because a huge number of new subscriptions that just came out of the blue. I think the contributing factors are well, the 1.2 patch itself, I say this mainly because a large number of people who have not logged on in well over a month have logged on in both my guild and friends list. Their number one reason why, 1.2 patch. To see if its worth sticking around for.

Secondly, yeah, this growth in player numbers trend will most likely continue and will probably drop off some most likely because B.W. bowed under player pressure and gave the players a free month to play. And honestly, you will be kidding yourself if you think that it was a thank you from B.W. for the "continued support" thats just garbage when one threat concerning 1.2 issues went from page 1 to over, wow, I think I stopped bothering with it at over 400 pages. And this thread went from 1 to over 400 in less than 5 hours.

A lot of the angst just comes from that, we got hyped up about 1.2. It was going to have heaps of these awesome legacy things your toons and alts will get, yet what you recieved was a bare bones patch to make way for further development. Seriously, I am going to be happy about getting a lil practice doll to beat up on an ****** offline combat log to test myself with? And Ill pay several hundred K creds for it?

Really? Which brings up another point, what is the point of Legacy Levels when you have to actually spend Game Currency to get that unlock. It doesn't make any sense to me, why not just scrap the legacy levelling system and just allow everyone to just buy whatever the heck they want at a seriously inflated price. It's just weird and pointless, but that is my opinion and I digress.

There were other things that were advertised on their videos that never made it in, so of course the player base was not happy and went of its royal rocker and into super nerd rage mode followed by a knee jerk reaction to give the community a free month to play so that their books on paper at the very least don't look so bad.

Now, I am more of a pvper than an pve'r and I have not even mentioned that jack *** attitude of pulling out something out of a patch that to me was really amazing. Yet its not even that, its that attitude of thinking that despite having all that time to test something, to pull it out mere moments before it was to be deployed with some weak *** excuse? Really?

Having said that, I cant say that I agree just judging by the feel of the community at large, that they are 100% happy with what B.W. has done. The fact that they back flipped so twice on the free month to boot tells you something. So, I don't think a lot of players will stick on after they finish their storylines, because frankly that's when you start to see the game for what it is. Incomplete.

Oh, and some games that had combat logs, lets see, nwn back in the had them, not a true mmo though, Perfect World, Everquest 2, Forsaken World, DnD online, heck even Lord of the Rings to name a few. Even certain single player games have them.

As I said, this is a great single player game. Amazing single player game, but that's about it for the time being. I hope they add more things to it as time changes, I am a huge fan of the fiction, but... not being led around by my nose.

I've got my girlfriend for that, every time I think I'm one step ahead, I find myself 3 behind!

So those of us on servers with dying populations should reroll on Harbinger and drive that queue up higher!

I rerolled on Harbinger in Feb, only ran into a que once (2-3 min wait) and it was soon after 1.2, due to people checking out the update and I suppose the free month many got. I chose Harbinger over Fatman because Fatman seems to have a que a lot.

Harbinger is a great server, but I'd really like to get my other 50 off the dead server (Colonel Tobin) it's on as well as my friends who refused to reroll and gave up on the game. They'd probably consider playing if there were a transfer option or merge... but the longer it takes the more interest they'll lose considering the other games coming.
