I have been experiencing intermittent sound issues in the game since the 1.2 patch. many of my guild mates are having the same problem. Basically we will be in a PvP area or in a quest story line area and the talking portion will sundenly go silent. For example, not hearing that the Frog Dogs have the ball or haveing the NPC in a quest suddenl show no mouth annimation and have no voice sound .. We know this is not a system issue cause we can still hear game sounds just no voices at some points .. sometimes we hear the voice sound and others we dont. The voice loss seems random in that I can leave a quest and restart it and hear the voices in different kparts of the animation.

I've been having the same trouble. I wasn't sure why or if it was just me. All of my conversations with companions or otherwise are choppy at best, and they speak probably about 10% of the time. All of my other sounds are perfectly fine, though.

Greetings All,

We are currently investigating the sound issues.

DarthMondo, you can email support@swtor.com with your dxdiag attached.

Thank you for this, the more information we have, the faster we can get this fixed.

Note that some sound issues that players have experienced can be resolved by running the repair function on the launcher. It may help to try this.

I too am having a ton of different audio issues since 1.2:
  • Sound in general is lower.
  • Companions are extremely low and echo.
  • Space combat goes back and forth between close to normal and extremely low. Companions here are also low or I can't make out what they are saying at all.
  • 'jet engine' sound from vehicles. the audio seems to be much louder than all other ambient sounds. seems worse in imperial fleet.
  • spamming casted abilities seems to overlap/loop and causes audio disconnect from visuals.

Its as if audio queues are off, coming from the wrong direction or missing entirely.

Here are some other threads with users reporting similar behavior:

I'd be more than willing to provide a dxdiag as well if you would like it.

Edit 1: running the repair utility had no effect on the audio issues.

Edit 2: dxdiag:
Spoiler

This is a simple case of Bio Ware not using the Operating System of the computer to access the sound devices.

Just like SWTOR has a stupid interface layer between the keyboard and mouse of the OS and the game.

This is caused by the Hero Engine originally written in Linux and lack of Windows talent at Bio Ware to fix the issue.

So now we also have Sound issues. A Microsoft guy I know says talking to Bio Ware about this is like trying to train a stubborn monkey. They refuse to use the Operating System.

Who do you think is better at interfacing with the devices?
A. Microsoft
B. Bio Ware

LOL I pick A.

Same here. Started after patch 1.2 - you need to fix this asap.
