But again, the guild wars fanbois will try to spin it any way thay can.
Hit it right on the nose. It's a common business practice regardless of the means they use to do it. A free month may seem drastic but in a subscription based game, customer retention is key. They released update 1.2 and handed out free months to players to get them either A) Re-interested or B) More hooked to the game.
I'll find you.

While you might see it as "whinging", it is nonetheless feedback to Bioware. All feedback is useful for making decisions and charting business policy. You will notice that these days even many supermarkets and chain stores will have feedback forms, or feedback sections on their websites.

As businesses recognise, most people do not offer feedback unless they feel aggrieved, frustrated or irritated. Occasionally people do offer positive feedback, but that tends to be the minority. However, negative feedback is probably the most useful as it enables the company to gauge perception and reception of its decisions among its paying subscribers.

One of the reasons these forums exist, is for precisely for this. It is sound business policy. So rather than being irritated by other participants, you should continue giving positive feedback (if that's your thing) on the forum, and let others vent (if that's their thing) and consider that everybody is doing a service to the game\community by doing so.

Yeah, by the forum goers logic it means my ISP is completely desperate, about to go broke and they will do anything to keep me as customer

hmm don't presume to know what i am thinking. I never said this meant anything one way or another. If i were to draw any conclusions on this point it would be that since successful and failed MMOs have done the same thing it tells me this is more of a matter of good customer service not necessarily a sign the game is dying. since as we can see from past instances dealing with the same situation it can go either way.
