Well, good news.

I got a reply from my in-game bug report, regarding the texture settings being locked on medium. While the message was just a generic template saying he would forward the bug report to the appropriate department., what is interesting is the contact memo that was displayed at the end of the email.

It says...

12/16/2011 - SWTOR CSR: [EN-Mass Reply] - Customer encountered bug during play.
Thanked customer for feedback, and sent bug report known issue template.

This is good, as they consider it a known issue. I'm a GM for a different MMO, and that's the type of thing we would say internally (I think the CSR goofed). It's much better than if he would have said "by design" or "working as intended".

lol nooooooooo...

graphics have absolutely nothing to do with latency. they have absolutely no affect on "lag" or ping times. all of the art assets are on your machine, and are displayed by your machine. the only data that is being transferred to the servers is your location and any calculations for combat/UI/inventory.

Fully agrre OP, some textures look really really low poly and loveless. For example the uniforms of imperial officers. The uniform looks as it has been glued to the character instead of giving a 3 dimensional perspective. Not eally nice if you know that your pc could handle much better textures.

What's strange is the texture quality during cutscenes is much higher than it is normaly. I'd like an option to use these textures all the time :/

Scroll up to my previous post. The CSR put a memo on my bug report ticket (probably meant to be internal), that it was a known issue. That sounds like it isn't intended.
