While they may offer a token of apology, you need to understand that they are in no way obligated to do so.
You agreed to accept that fact when you created your account:

http://tos.ea.com/legalapp/WEBTERMS/US/en/PC/

" EA PROVIDES EA SERVICES ON A COMMERCIALLY REASONABLE BASIS AND DOES NOT GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO ACCESS OR USE EA SERVICES AT TIMES OR LOCATIONS OF YOUR CHOOSING, OR THAT EA WILL HAVE ADEQUATE CAPACITY FOR EA SERVICES AS A WHOLE OR IN ANY SPECIFIC GEOGRAPHIC AREA.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY FOR ANY DISPUTE WITH EA OR ITS LICENSORS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO EA SERVICES AND/OR EA PRODUCTS IS TO STOP USING EA SERVICES, AND TO CANCEL YOUR ACCOUNT."

Hello everyone,

We ask that threads made in the Customer Service forum be restricted to those seeking assistance either with their accounts or getting into the game. For better understanding of what should be posted in the Customer Service forum, please be sure to read the FAQ stickied to this forum.

Additionally, due to the unexpected extended maintenance, we are offering players a full day of game time as compensation:

[Servers offline] Updated: Downtime expected until 6:00PM CDT & One Day Compensation

If you would like to discuss this, please use the following thread in General Discussion, as we will be closing this topic:

Will we recieve a free days play time due to downtime 13/02/2012 ?

Thank you!
