thats true. the one thing that i have never experienced with arenanet, and only learned through warhammer online and (sadly) swtor is that the developers make very bad decisions and seem to not be playing their game.

the worst thing bioware does is to listen to the people who cry the loudest, are (at best) average skilled gamers and are likely to switch back to wow or any other hyped game soon.
they balance the game around the philosophy "dont frustrate any player by anything". if someone cant win against something on his own and by playing very poorly, it needs to be nerfed out (as with healing).

even though you fight with a 8-man team, playing together seems to be not taken into account and discouraged.

the gameplay experience is unbelievably low with low pop servers. The last 30 games i played, we had a full team of 8 people for about 4 minutes top. most of the games i play are 5 vs 8 and they give you about a third (if not 0) commendations of the winner team that keep farming us.

I always find it friggin' hilarious when people name D3 as an MMO killer.

...

Are you inSAYAN? Srsly, you need a reality check, why even name it in the same breath with completely different game categories.

I'm 100% sure that *insert random multiplayer game here* will kill all MMO's. *trollface*

You doomsayers need to get out of here.

I stupidly believed this would be, as advertised, a story driven game that was “KOTOR 3 through 10” and BW would keep to their guns. Instead, it’s going the route of patches going the route of PVP and raiders.

Should… have… known.

“MMO” trumps “story driven”. Cuz us RPers that wanted KOTOR-3, we’re kiddies apparently, and I wish I knew then what I know now. New FPs. New OP. New Dailies. I don’t know what Legacy is, but it sure isn’t chapter 4.

Well, that’s that. I have learned one thing, though… if a game says “MMO” anywhere it’s title, “MMO” trumps all, so, since I’m not the target market, I don’t care if the next “Story driven MMO” is about Highlander (my personal favourite franchise), if it says “MMO”, I won’t be here, because, for me, I’m sick… and tired… of PVP and raids… creeping up and taking over a genre.

Should have gone with my gut, seen “MMO” and ran for the hills. But, I got suckered in by the advertisement and videos promising KOTOR-3 to 10. My fault for forgetting it was EA…

Maybe if a development company ever gets the balls to call something a SPOG (Single Player Online Game), and verbatim says “It’s online to stop piracy. We will NEVER put in PVP. We will NEVER put in raids. We’re aiming to be a niche game targeted at story people”.

Maybe I’ll give it a try… maybe.

Either way, though, BW is getting it both ways…

…from PVP / Raiders as per many board posts about the unsatisfying content, and lack of updates about the same in 1.1… 1.2… etc…

…and now, at least for me, getting it from RP “kiddies” (hey, I’m 45, but I qualify apparently according to the quoted part) and Story people because all we see on 1.1 1.2 updates, and patches… is more… damn… PVP and raid balancing / features…. sigh.

Sidebar = As above, I don’t know what Legacy is. PVP / Raiders can say it doesn’t help them. Well, it’s no chapter 4+, so it’s helping us RP / Story people either…

I read your entire post and it is well written and a reasonable complaint.

It does beg a couple of questions though.

As far as story goes. You freely admit you are a single player type, story motivated player and that is a legitimate play style. One has to wonder though, for a game that is only 4 months old and does include 8 very involved and lengthy class stories right out of the box and has already delivered two large content patches that contained quite a bit of story (granted much of it was in the form of group content,)

I guess my question is, how much story does one consumer have the right to demand?

I feel for you if you legitimately feel like you aren't getting enough single player story but I can't really suggest anything other than to say, try another class story while you wait for your single player story to be added to later. That's the good thing about MMO's, they really never end. Sometimes we don't get what we want as fast as we want it but it usually comes, eventually.

As to your feeling that they cater more to raiders and pvpers and dedicate more time to the MMO aspects of the game. I can hardly see how they would do anything other than this. It is, after all, an mmo and that monthly sub is what pays for all of the content (which includes your single player story driven content.)
Stop exploding you cowards!

You and the guy you are agreeing with are like locust..moving from one MMO to another and hailing the next release as 'the killer ' for the previous one. Been there done that. I have been watching this nonsense for years now. GW2 and D3 going to kill SWTOR stone dead? well can't stop a man from dreaming.

I will bet my left nut that in a month you guys will be crying on GW2 forums waiting for the next GW2 killer to come along.

Your sig kinda says it all.. you want a single player game play a single player game. End sub til your story gets longer, come back, rinse and repeat. Unreasonable frustration solved. You're welcome.

D3? You mean that game they were desperately giving away for FREE when you paid for another year of WOW? So that they still have subs when they release their crappy kung-fu panda expansion? It has fail written all over it...

Shame about AoC though. It could have been an amazing game, combat was good, ideas like guild forts and seiges were good, graphics were good too, but they released it far to early and by the time they fixed/finished everything they had no players left :/

no mergers until the game is near death checks out so far. And WAR kept on a healthy state for a while. People who think everything is alright are on the right servers unfortunately they refuse to fix THAT mistake. And yeah WAR's pvp was the best I've experienced so far no doubt about it.
