I think some people forget that when SWG launched, it lacked many of the features most SWGers came to love:

At launch, SWG had NO:

Player Housing
Player Cities
Space Flight
Vehicles
Mounts
Jedi
Quest Planets
Storyline

ALL of these elements came post launch. You could argue that the crafting system was fully complete at launch (and one of the best crafting systems ever made), however, a great crafting system does not equal a very successful MMO (as proven by SWG).

We all bought what was in the SWTOR box when the game shipped, and absolutely NOTHING more. We are not entitled to anything beyond that.

We all pay $15 bucks a month for the things they are adding after that, if we are not happy with them, we are more than welcome to hit the cancel button.

I think that a lot of hate does come from people who dont understand why things are how they are.

Best example is the FPS issue bandwagon or the cant find a group topic.

Both things are user generated, yet people dont want to see this and blame BW.

Architecture, which died faster than you can say "Yeah, the market is so saturated that architects can't make any profit", is a flawless example of how even SWG's system needed more thought before it was deployed.

Which I did when they took away my Creature Handler, all my pets, and everything else I had spent years working on, and replaced it all with a functionally backward system that alienated all existing players for the benefit of adding a few new subs from people who just wanted to roll a Jedi at level 1 and be done with it.

Again Raven, which SWG is better than SWTOR? The one that didn't work... or the one that didn't work?

Anyone with any type of common sense knows why there is hate. In the most basic terms possible its because its fasionable to be a hater in the eyes of some people, they think cos they can type on a forums that there words are gospel and that somehow what they say will come true.

Its been a trend for a few years now, just look back over the forums of rift, aion etc to see what i mean. The negative impact they had on the playerbase is what mainly hurt those games and the haters seem to get pleasure in the fact that precious wow stays the king even though its gone stale.

And whats the prime thing that is common in all the hate in the main, they left wow and are shocked the games they went to arnt wow. Shock horror

But the hate comes down to a few things I can think of;

Too high of expectations.

Played too much and burned the content in a month.

Can't play because the minimum specs on the box are pure BS.

Getting frustrated with very simple and obvious changes that need to be made, but BW is ignoring or too slow to fix.

No Ewoks to kill.
Don't worry, paragraphed post. You may read without temporary word overload now. Enjoy

SWG was a million, billion, ga-freakin-zillion times better than SWTOR imo. Even with it's crappy combat and other flaws, it had deeper gameplay and an epic world feel that SWTOR just completely lacks.

Dito but it is impossible to prove either way but it would be fun to see bioware come out and show the average age of the haters.
