Microtransactions Shop for SWTOR: confirmed or not?

Since all my searches have come up with nothing conclusive I was hoping someone out there had heard an official comment (with citations) on whether BioWare officially intends on creating a cash shop and how soon if ever.

Please if possible try to steer away from the evil or virtues of cashshop or whether they'll result in a ragequit apocalypse.

I would really like to know if somewhere at some point there has been reliable word (which can be quoted) from on high whether this was something they were planning to implement or not. Up until now I've failed to find anything from them on the subject, which to me translates into "we're keeping all our options open."

The reason I ask is my suspicion that simple and highly desirable features are kept from the game because they are candidates for a cash shop - things like name changes, transfers and character customization.

If i recall, they said something along the lines of "we are looking into it" a while back (before launch). Nothing since then though, at least that i've seen.

Since it hasn't even been mentioned anywhere, there's no point in asking whether it is "confirmed".

OK Let me clarify. It's not really whether the coming of a cash shop is confirmed or not but whether there have been confirmed comments from the development team on the subject. My English is getting rusty, I do what I can.

And this.. is what's wrong with most players in mmos today.

They sit around searching sites and forums for things that don't affect them at all now but instead start building little nuclear bunkers in 'preparation' for something that may or may not come with nothing to back it up, just 'suspicions'.

Conspiracy theories in mmos.. do we really need this after only four months?

The types of features you mentioned aren't being held back, they just don't have the tools for them at the moment. They have to manually copy characters to the test server. They haven't transferred the Oceanic players to that server yet, because they don't have the tool finished. Name changes can happen, but it generally involves a GM changing your name because you chose an inappropriate name.

Its frustrating, but give it time.

This will be released in 1.3 more than likely to make up for the lack of subscribers.
