Piss off enough of the current players and they're never coming back. I frequent a couple of gaming forums and whenever a prospective new player asks how STWOR is the answer is always a resounding "Don't even bother." Trust me word-of-mouth from pissed off players is just as bad as "server merge" in keeping new players away.

funny how people say don't bother and it is mainly those people that feel they are entitled to whatever they want. Yes the servers being low pop sucks but telling people don't bother just hurts the damn game even more.
BW more worried about 1.2 than the state of server populations.

So, the concept is that server mergers sends a bad pr message so they shouldnt do them, even though a huge portion of the customer base is terribly disappointed because they are stuck on a server in an "MMO" with 10 other people? I hope none of you who thinks that way has a RL job with actual responsibility for strategic decisions.
Wow.

2 little too late. every other mmo that didnt have server transfers at launch seemed to integrate fine...what happened bioware...to buy throwing money in the air ? i think we should all stop pretending like they care. its insanity to keep playiing if u dont know why ur playing...i play only for the pvp and thats sad but hey i have fun. and i know i will not play this game once gw2 launches and then planetside 2. then again do you think they read this posts with compasion ? no they are always trying to maximize profits...and not all F2p Games are bad...Blacklight Retribution is the best F2P game EVER once they fix the cpu leak. dx11 polish!

I think people are missing the big picture. Population goes up and down for every game. The problem being is, to avoid the flames of que times and over population. Bioware decided to open a ton of serves and spread evenly throughout each server. Where as most themepark mmo's in the past have opened less servers and then later added servers to suit the demand.

So I don't think a server merge sends a bad idea to anyone, it actually will probably stop some people from leaving when they actually have more than 3 people who are looking for groups. I think if they cut the servers in half, we would see a lot more action on servers.

I tend to agree with this point. I think having a host of unpopulated servers is far worse for BW, long-term, then a bit of bad press following server mergers.

Based on the Q and A server transfers will be launching at the earliest with 1.3 which will probably be 3 to 4 months after 1.2 launches so I would expect late August to early September

Thanks for finding this out.

My subscription runs out this month, so I will probably be back then.

1.3 is not going to be 3-4 months from 1.2 release. Try 1-2 months.
