I am indifferent to this debate, but Dooku is involved in at least two major lightsaber duels in the movies and wields a red lighsaber.

Now, there have been Jedi who used different colored lightsabers, even in the movies. *cough* Mace Wndu and Plo Koon *cough*. So yeah, I don't wanna hear that noise that ALL Jedi sabers HAVE to be either blue or green or it's against canon or that ALL Sith sabers HAVE to be red or purple or it's against canon *cough* Exar Kun *cough*. So if you're gonna QQ, please QQ early and often! I will lick those sweet sweet tears from your faces.
Its ok Capt, John Williams will silence them soon.

As it stands right now, the lightsaber wielding Force user player characters in this game look like a colorful circus act. None of the traditional colors for the Jedi and most especially the Sith. When you see a group of Sith, they pretty much should be using Red lightsabers.
only reasons are saber colors was do to effects issues during making of the movie. Originally were suppose to be white in color... so if your a true purist you should actually want them to be WHITE not blue red or green!

if you do enough research you quickly realize every jedi/sith chooses own crystal through use of the force, and generally same technique knowing this it was easy for me to come to the conclusion that is nothing stopping a sith or jedi from using any color they choose.

As far as the debate go, as with most debates, I take the middle ground. I recognize the op's point of sith carrying red crystal sabers and Jedi being blue or green. The one point I'll make is Jedi could carry more, like yellow or orange. But those crystals are rare. Jedi gather their crystals from ilum, which carries the blue or green variant crystals and are in abundance. As previous posters mention, sith create their own crystals. At some point the Jedi have a strong hold on the natural crystals and sith see creating their own crystals an act of superiority anyway, and red is what typically gets shown.

What I will say is this is a game, and in some instances it will operate outside "canon". Give the players options. gamers don't like to be limited and for good reason. The game is more fun with a little flavor. I recognize your red Lightsaber purist ideas, and agree with them to a point. But this isn't the first game to break these rules. Jedi knight series, force unleashed, etc...

Plus let's look at this from the players point of view. I've seen considerably less sith using blue, or green sabers and less Jedi using red. They are there, sure, but are minority. What if they are characters that have decided to play the role of the defector. Maybe a Jedi player wants to take the trip of Anakin. Or a sith that wants to be like revan. As it stands the only option in the game is to use the dark side/light side options and carry an opposite color saber. Until bioware makes (or if they never do) a faction switching option, that's the best some players can do. I for one have a sith character that will start off evil and at some point will see the horror of what she is apart of. Makes for epic storytelling.

As a Star Wars purist, making every sith's lightsaber red was a poorly concieved idea with episode one. Only three characters ever used lightsabers in the original trilogy (save for brief moments with Han Solo)

Every character should have had unique sabers/weapons.

I think the iconic red lightsabers for sith is actually a good idea. But we can have more intimidating colors then just red. How about black red? Or just black? They could've been more creative in the prequels, but maybe Lucas just wanted red for the villains. Did make for a cool moment when darth maul busted out his saber. But then again, it's just cool when sabers get busted out, regardless of color.

I for one wish that we could use whatever light sabers we wanted with any force wielding class, In KOTOR 2 I enjoyed having a sith lord (Ranged Spellcaster/Force User) With two light saber's (Red & Silver).
I wish i could but all I can do is have faith that Bioware will deliver as the game progresses.
We are only on 1.2 and look at all we have.

I for one am very pleased with the changes in 1.2, but I am upset I missed out on getting a white crystal because I didnt have 2.5mil let alone 1 mil credits. And now its like "oh one time deal bye" I think there should still be some way to get any color lightsaber crystal, even if it is extremely involved. To just completely take it away from the game is just irritating.

I loved my "Silver" blade in KOTOR and now who knows when I will have the chance to wield it in SWTOR because of a reason I cant fathom. Not trying to troll, just disheartened

During the teaser video of the 1.2, it clearly said "New Lightsaber Colors". Any idea that those might be?
