But that won't happen.

As it stands right now, the lightsaber wielding Force user player characters in this game look like a colorful circus act. None of the traditional colors for the Jedi and most especially the Sith. When you see a group of Sith, they pretty much should be using Red lightsabers.

Movies = everything...

The way I see this debate is once again people who care too much about the things other poeple do,
instead of focusing on their own stuff.
If you want sith with reds and Jedi with blue/green only then do that. With your own characters.

Actually, I think it is more like 3000 years before the films.

Umm you do know that Leia had a ruby lightsaber, mara jade had a red lightsaber. exar kun had a blue lightsaber.

the color has nothing to do with being a jedi or a sith.

1. No color is being removed. They are only removing the ability to obtain new white crystals.
2. Well documented in the EU that Jedi can (and do) use any color including red, and sith can (and do) use any color including blue.
3. This game, quite obviously, takes place in the EU.
4. The movies are irrelevant.

Done. Full stop.

Movies are irrelevant

I want my jedi at level 50 to have traditional blue/green without taking a stat hit. Is there any change in 1.2 about what colors are available at the highest tier?

Yeah you have no idea what you're talking about. No rational argument can be made whatsoever for color restrictions, every single thread supporting it gets shut down rationally in every single way and no amount of QQing is going to change the fact you support an irrational position.

I was under the impression that a Force users affiliation eventually "Tainted" the crystal color to red when they used the dark side a lot.

Got that from the books or comic books somewhere.

They should add the red color "tainting" to the Dark Side appearance levels option.

Nope.

During the Ruusan Reformation (roughly a thousand years before the movies and nearly three thousand after SW:TOR), nearly all crystal caves were wiped out. The Jedi controlled the last remaining one, and it produced blue and green colours exclusively. While other crystal sources existed, none were exploited en masse. On the flip side, Sith created their crystals through alchemy - these synthetic crystals produced a red hue.

Until that point, all colours were equally valid, although Sith still commonly had red crystals due to their creation through the aforementioned alchemy.

LOL thats funny. I suppose Palpatine was a Jedi for the 20 minutes he was in possession of Luke's Green saber in Episode 6?

The colours are symbols. If you're a jedi who turns to sith you obviously aren't going to pause mid scene, declare you've come to an emotional decision about where your loyalties lie, and then open up your sabre so that you can change the crystal so that for the transitional battle in your alignment shift from good to evil nobody is confused.

Your logic is the kind of facile nonsense that people use when they want to split hairs and ignore blatantly obvious facts. Good guys use Blue and Green, bad guys use Red. Thats how its always been and thats the symbolic divide. This kind of symbolism has always been important in Star Wars, which is basically a sci fi parable about good and evil.

People who want free form use of colours and themes for both sides should just say it, instead of claiming that everything which is actually consistent with the world of Star Wars is "Narrow Minded".
