What's not going to be in 1.2 Legacy will come in 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 etc...., it's on going 1.2 is just the beginning of this system.
So should we wait 7 years for TOR to flourish and add end-game content to be on par with WoW? Is that how we are comparing games now?

Really need to stop comparing TOR to WoW 7 years ago. Right now, in present time, is where the competitiveness is at. To keep players interested, the game have to do better than other games at the current level. Comparing the game to a game 7 years ago isn't going to cut it. The gaming world is moving forward, if you keep setting your standard to the game that is 7 years old, your just going to fall behind. Way behind.

Wow vanilla was for me the best MMO I ever played, I doubt any game could beat it - but thats coming of someone who did grow up with that kind of genre.

Newbies & young ones will rate that different as they only know WOTLK or Cata - which are a horrible example of an MMO.

What wow did right at vanilla was creating a unique atmosphere, you did start small and could become big - but it took many months and you always had something infront of your nose, that you wanted to do.

Thats the original MMO way, but allready with the end of TBC and especially WOTLK that died as people wanted fastfood games now, didnt have patience or skill at all.

^ This.

I couldn't even bring myself to play WoW anymore come the middle of WoTLK.

It was a different game and deserved to be filled under a different or new genre by then.

From another thread on the same subject:

What bothers me is that intellectually I know why its added-- to encourage you to roll more toons and thereby extend the shelf life of the game since now you are invested in constantly grinding.

The problem is , I like playing a certain class and get invested in my 'main' toon, both in time and credits as well as enjoyment. So for me, a legacy system is only of partial value.

Ultimately its an RP thing since most of the skills are only usable in situations where they aren't really needed in the first place. Stuff like a mailbox on my ship is really no big deal, all I gotta do is step out to any port, they are right there. Seriously how lazy do you gotta be for that?

No, I want a game that offers me a wide diversity of loot choices (a random loot table), less raiding and more wholesale carnage in the form of territorial PVP. I want to feel heroic and affect the world around me, not stand around spamming for a raid. To me thats just hamster wheeling my game play. If I wanted that I would go back to WOW.

I like SWTOR and I don't want to see it become just another WOW clone, or get thrown into my F2P pile. it's a good game. If they are going to release 1.2 in an incomplete version we are all going to be back on empty servers in 4-6 weeks and that is not something people will forget or forgive Bioware for.

Bioware's emphasis on content based endgaming is a losing proposition. We have seen this in WOW as other games too-- hundreds of near empty servers as players burn through content and chuck it off for the next hot shootfest to come out on the Xbox or Playstation. Console gamers and PC gamers are NOT the same type of gamer even if some people play both. By appealing the game to them by trying to add pinball machine content you'll sink the game.

They need to open the game up and let the whiners move on. Content based gaming in this day and age is a losing proposition. Ask Blizzard.

They keep up appealing to RPrs who move onto to the next game in 3 months , or cater to the 'nerfer' crowd and whiners-- well all they are doing is shooting themselves in the foot IMHO.

I'll wait until the next major patch after 1.2 to pass a final judgement, I want to give them a full year before I give up on SWTOR. However, its not looking good so far. If it keeps up on this path, I may give up on MMO's forever.

This sums up my personal opinion on the game as well. You won't be able to keep up with the demand of content, it' just not possible. Trying to appease raiders/RPers will eventually turn your game in Age of Conan -- another pile of F2P trash. Personally I think a focus on PvP in general (and specifically world PvP) is the answer. PvPers can create their own dynamic content if you give them a reason to. Hell, we've made due with just 3 WZ's for months now and it still hasn't gotten old. PvP is inherently dynamic, and world PvP is even more so.

When you load in and see 12 people in the Fleet, something is seriously wrong, patch 1.2 or not.

Who is loading in? Not the RP people-- its the game leaders with PVP in mind, not the PVE crowd sitting in the cantina, or the regular raiding crews.

Sorry Bioware- defined content can no longer sustain gamers now for two reasons, it takes too long to code and players are better than ever and obliterate content at breakneck speeds now.

Open up the game. I promise it will make things right again.

It might have been said already but what bugs me about that particular part is that it seems they artificially delay some features just so they can say "aweseome features coming in 1.3, don't unsub just now!"
I know people rage just about everything on the internet, and I don't mean to say I cannot stand that, its just a tad annoying to see that tactic again.

The legacy system is launching with 1.2. To some degree the system does not exist right now outside of the fact you can increase the level after chapter 1. I think the plan has always been to add to the system with every major patch, in other words there will be features in 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 etc...

Why does it seem like most of you think that they are putting in a half baked legacy system and others think it was something to be in a launch?
What did the poster below me just say?!?!?!

Because Legacy is supposed to encourage you to roll alts. Most people have already made all the 50s they want within this 4 month period of a really stale game. Legacy is too late, to put it simply.
