So we can agree on have some x-server realms and have some non x-server realms?

The best part about that is we could see people vote with their feet rather than arguing about it over the forums. I would be more than willing to concede if the foot vote ended up so far away from in my favor that it wasn't worth doing.
totally love this idea no xrealm pvp or pve just pure community
hopefully they'll do free transfers so there's no whining about wanting it, would have chosen if it existed at the time etc. And soon.

So, PVP, PVE and SO (Server Only) on the realm selection page?

also, I kind of get the feeling server merges won't be for a while. heard something about an advertising blitz in the near future. So I don't think they'll risk new players going to empty servers...

More like theyre 50 too, and just logging on for raid night or playing alts.

It probably depends on the class but as a gunslinger I started doing the HMs with all orange gear filled with a mix of blue label cybertech made mods and the lvl 49 daily token purchasable purple label mods, no rakata implants or earpiece. I was squishy to start but it was never really a problem.

Do you absolutely have to do them all in order?
Some would claim you do. The truth is you can get normals done with green gear. Doing them will give you 2 things. General knowledge of the flashpoint and better gear if you wish to do the harder versions.

The day someone starts talking bout gearscore I'm gonna hunt them down and burn their house down with lemons.

I played WoW for years and I seen more of the bad behavior everyone is talking about before they had the cross server LFG tool. I never had any problems with people getting their loot and dropping. Maybe it was just that they decided to hang on to get their loot even though the group totally sucked "I can hang on for 3 more pulls then I am outta here to repair my trashed gear".

It's a matter of statistics, the more groups you form, the more chances of a bad one. But I would much rather take my chances at finding a bad group then spending hours upon end spamming chat trying to find ONE person to fill a group. I had one of my alts at the Hammer station level and decided to work on crafting(the main reason I was training him atm). I spent 3 days on the fleet doing nothing but crafting and spamming chat for a group for 4-8 hours a day. I found one group and that was only because a level 50 was running a guildie through. Being a tank I had to do none of it so it ended up being a very boring run for me. I have seen times where the fleet had around 50-60 people in the middle of the weekend. Out of those maybe 5 or 6 would be around your level and only have of them are interested in looking for a group. Another alt that I have trained to mid 40s has run maybe 4 or 5 flashpoints and it's not for lack of trying.

As for it ruining the community - BS - what community is there other then your guild and those are shrinking daily. X-server groups don't cross ALL of the servers, they are in smaller groups. I have used the tool and ran with people from other servers on more then one occasion. We had nice chats about how things have been since the last time. Launching this game without x-server LFG and the upcoming 1.2 patch was a huge mistake. I said all along during the beta once the date was set that they needed to wait another 6 months.

"But blah, blah, blah never had this at launch"... Yeah you are right and all but one of them is F2P now. When I go by a car I don't compare it to cars from 10 years ago, I compare it to cars coming out next year.

Drop the elitist attitudes and realize that this is for the better of the game. Nobody forces you to use it. But if it helps keep others from quitting from sheer boredom then you benefit from a more active community by Bioware deciding that the game is worth putting more effort into. If it keeps up on it's current decline they will start focusing on their next big launch.

The one night my guild successfully had 8 lvl 50's on at the same time, we had 4 people who did their dailies religiously, had the rakata earpiece and implants, and rest orange gear with purple mods and then we had 4 people who were fairly new 50's, three of whom had never raided in any MMO before. We went into Eternity Vault and after 6 tries got the Annihilator down (3 consecutive tries we had him down to 20-40k when he enraged). We then eased through the trash to Gharj with one wipe due to a bad pull (we still almost got away with it). We then had two attempts on Gharj. First time he ate us alive due to not knowing what to expect. 2nd time we got him down to 50% when he bugged. At that point the group started falling apart due to people needed to leave (it's a very casual guild with lots of married people with children and it took us 40 minutes to get the last dps when someone finally logged on before we even started).

As for the normal version of the lvl 50 4-man fp's, we breezed through those pretty well when most of us were fairly new 50's, even Kaon though it had a few challenging spots. 4-man hard modes though seemed almost as challenging as that first boss on EV normal...so take that for what's worth lol. Other people's experiences may vary.

thanks. I kinda had the feeling I was geared enough (at least for a little while - all seems easy so far but I kinda haven't been able to do very much... at all... my guild all quit...) but wasn't sure.

but tbh I've always been in guilds that push content as far as possible before everyone gets all geared up then we kinda just carry people so gear's never really been a big deal.

but I still think I'll be buying some artifact cybertech mods etc. Just in case this tool ever gets going least it looks like I got plenty of time so logging in once a week or so should do it

What I would do if I were making a mmo at this point is instead of difficulty settings have PvE and PvP versions of three different server types.

Server Type A: No x-realm unapologetic about difficulty.

Server Type B: Add x-realm, still unapologetic about difficulty.

Server Type C: Add x-realm and scale difficulty so that the majority is completing it.

Then allow my customers to freely transfer if they ever think one server type would fit their needs more than another.

I would actually have no objections to that. The one possible downside I could see is you might have the situation where people level fast on C get geared and then x-fer to a B. On the other hand, it probably wouldn't be hard for the people who leveled on B to identify those people since they're in raid gear yet don't know about mechanic x lol. That could bring up the debate on how good the rewards would be on type C. <shrug> Always going to be someone unhappy lol.

You could slightly downscale stats on the gear awarded from server type C to the point that it made it worth it to get the upgraded versions from server type B. You could do that instead of difficulty settings and tiers. I should be getting paid for these idea.
