Like I said, they may try to improve on the tool used by WoW and other games.

One way I think they could do that, is to offer no reward for completing a flashpoint via the group finder. No badges, no extra XP, no credits.

Just what you would get from the normal daily quest you currently get now.

I'm in a pretty good guild just now, really friendly and I really enjoy chatting with them whilst I level. The LFG won't change that for me, to me they are the main community that I care about.

Never know, it might not change a thing for you.

No if they implement a system which stops people jumping in an instance, getting what they want and moving on to the next. If it doesnt empower the ninjas and the idiots with no online gaming ethics. Ill stay, but WoW LFG empowers all these types of players. and if this comes to TOR.... Ill be gone.
As much as I support the LFG I'll say this much. This is what I'm thinking. There WILL be problems, especially at first, as well as hopefully the influx of people overjoyed to have it and make it bliss. For a LOT of people the first few could very well be their FIRST EVER. It's progression content for some, and brings the sociability that goes with it for them, but it's also faceroll let's-get-it-done-as-fast-as-possible for other people, who by now have been in guilds, done operations, done the flashpoints etc. The population is divided already and that shiny-new feeling is wearing off.

3 - It removes a large chunk of elitism from the game, games are meant to be fun, there is nothing fun about some upstart kicking you out of the group and then publicly broadcasting that dont play with this guy because his gear is not up to scratch. Ive seen that happen to too many players.
Totally fun when they continue it in trade. Already seen it on Fleet. If not for kicking, then for quitting for whatever reason etc coz it ended the run for everyone else. Getting kicked? Having it require a majority is so much better than just being removed by one single person. Yeah, lets make SWTOR a pressure cooker and make sure the "bads" never get the opportunity to get good Getting kicked? Having it require a majority is so much better than just being removed by one single person.

Prove that "most" want what you want. Unless you can link a data figure which shows that, you are assuming that to be true. Just saying. Do ask me to prove you wrong with a data link. I never have made a statement that most want a cross server one. Only that a lot do and how it has worked out great in WoW and continues to be one Blizz is incorporating more into thier game and improving. Which does "prove" it is working well for them.
When I say most I am referring to those against the Cross Server LFG. I tend to see quite a few post from those who are for the cross server make comments eluding that if you are not for cross server LFG you are against LFG and want to spam in General Chat. This is clearly not true.

You ask for data but there is no data for or against as in number of people who want cross server and those who don't want cross server. Just from reading this thread I can see a lot of people for and against. I have never claimed any group to be in the majority all I've stated is that most of the anti cross server crowd are not against lfg only wish for it to be server only.

Ive played MMOs for years. and the social aspect about an MMO is what drew me in. Knowing people on the server, there class, meeting up. getting to know people. I know you can do this now to an extent. But MMOs were designed around this. This is how you had to be to get into groups. But now. Its gone and will soon be replaced with a console match making system.

No offense to the casuals as i know its to get them into the genre and gaming. I see the benifits no doubt. But i also see the downside. And the downside to me out weights the bonuses of the system. So to me if this game goes down that route. its no longer a game i will enjoy playing. So its best to move on!

I am in a guild in WoW and most of us use thier LFG cross server tools. It has had no impact on my friend's list and we still do a lot of runs together. If you have a nice group of friends and a guild which creates a nice community within it's ranks, a cross server tool will not destory that. Do let the actions of others ruin your game fun. You do have control over that you know?
What the cross server tool does do is allows us to run when we want to and experence end game content based on our time schedules.
Trust is something which is earned.

I just ask that it doesn't teleport you to the instance. I like the way the fleet is set up. To trivialize that would make the other two hubs completely unused.

And we have tendency to see what we want to see.

Can you enlighten me to where anything I have said in my last post was incorrect? Or are you just trying to be silly?

He's referring specifically to your totally unsupported speculation that "those against the Cross Server LFG" = most. Remarking that people tend to see what they want to see.

It seems pretty clear to me.

This may be the first MMO I've stayed with for even several months, so I don't know about WoW and how other MMO's LFG tools have worked out, but given we've received almost no news on the merging/transferring servers front, i think its necessarily. I'm on a pretty dead server, so I've got little chance, even in a guild, to do any HM flashpoints, let alone even see what an operation looks like.

Also, I feel like the people saying all you need to do is ask friends and guildies are
A. On an active server
B. Been playing a lot with a single large guild

What about noobs? What about people trying to improve their gear? Most people on this server don't say a word to each other outside guild circles, its not as if a server is a super strong community unit that needs to be kept sacred or something.

While I cringe at the thought of going through all those loading screens to get to the fleet, I do agree with you somewhat here.

Instead I feel they should either reduce the cooldown of the Fleet Pass considerably (and not through legacy/credit payments!).

Or add a quick transport location to your Ship instead of some place outside of the spaceport.
