Do I need to subscribe before I can play the game, even though it comes with 30 days included playtime?

I was planing on using the included 30 days to try out the game, to see if I like it etc, and then decide whether to subscribe. It seems as if I can't do this without signing up for another month, is this correct?

It is a standard procedure in most (every?) p2p online game. You need active subscription/paid gametime to activate the account aka make it playable.

That's usually how these go, so I would assume so, yes.

You still have to setup the account and provide some form of billing information for when the 30 days are up.

It's how all other mmos have handled this from as long as I can remember.
