At the end of the day, for me, because its a game, if I need to choose between content and friends I guess I would rather be able to enjoy the content in the game vs. worrying about with whom I do the content with. Sadly, it is one or the other in SW right now.

Also at the end of the day, its not our ultimate decision as to what is and what is not included in SW's toolbox for players to use. And if BW decides that they don't ever want a cross server tool for fp's, then it won't have one. But, again, unfortunately, I won't be able to stay subbed either as this severely limits my ability to enjoy the game.
And I appreciate your civilized responses even when we disagree from time to time. IMO we can have both. The infrastructure is being put in place to allow this. To have X server LFG would require pretty much the same infrastructure and communications between servers as a single virtual server. I'm on Vos, then all Vos planets on ALL servers or at least a group of servers share the same chat channels. That's the same things as when you go into a flashpoint with cross server general is shared with everyone.

Currently when there's a lot of people in one zone the zone is sharded and players can hop to another shard. The same way a player would hop to a flashpoint (I believe hosted on ANOTHER server) in a X server environment they can have players hop to another server within the group to play with the people there.

The biggest hurdle would be cross server GTN & Guild Banks because you just GOTTA have guild members cross server. It just makes sense.

So IMO instead of working on putting in cross server LFG work on what I mentioned and when you LFG you pool from that group of servers also.

Win/Win.

Or at the very least a cluster of servers.
Mythic did this many years ago with daoc when their servers were in trouble. Instead of merging them they clustered them together and have some zones that were constantly merged and others where you could pick which server on the cluster you wanted to play in.

We already sort of have some of the mechanics in place with the phasing in swtor.
Actually, I think we may have all of the mechanics in place once they drop in xserver pvp. You can already pick what phase to be in if you're in the wrong phase, and every zone in the game is instanced (new instances are spun up on demand).

I estimate 1 month post launch a massive amount of threads will appear DEMANDING an LFG tool.

And as every modern MMO has learned, people are *****s and anti-social.

GW2 is going to have the same influx of players as SWTOR did, then the QQ will commence in full.

No LFG! This game isn't playable.

It is what it is.

When a LFG tool is in place it allows people become lazy and haphazard. Instead of crying that there is no LFG auto que, you should create or join a guild that works together with people. Instead people want to plow through the game solo not making friends or being committed to anything except themselves. So it becomes a glorified console game.

I am not against them having it but I think they should not give players any special rewards for using it. Infact I think they should ban getting social points when you use it since you really are not being social. Also I think you should have the option to que "Same server" or "Cross server".

I won't be using it. If players that do are rewarded I will cancel my subscription. Please concider all players in your decisions Bioware. Community is my entire reason for playing an MMO. Seek ways to reward those that are committed to their guild and friends verses themsleves.

Oh I agree wholeheartedly. The absence of an LFG tool that actually works (read: quickly finds you a group) in any modern MMO is a horrible gaffe.

I am not sure how LFD and Anti-Social are connected

I am in a 10 main WoW raid guild, we formed after the LFD was created. We are all friends to this day. We talk, drink beer, and hang out in vent. I have met a couple of them in real life. We hung out and had a good time.

Does that sound social? Maybe you just don't know how to make friends?

So you're advertising that you'll let everyone into your guild and further guarantee that whenever any of us logs in, you'll ensure there will be a full group, ready to roll into a HM FP, within 15 minutes?

Sign me up. Give me a server name, side, and character name I need to contact.

I am not married to any one idea to solve the current issues with grouping, so if a single, virtual server will solve the problem, I am all for it! I like this idea, but if they don't want to go that route, then by all means, come up with something else that allows us to tap the entire player base to group and enjoy content!

Unfortunately, BW has been deafeningly silent on mergers, cross server tools, virtual servers, etc... they seem to think if they ignore it, it will go away (my perception only). But, sadly, the only thing going away may be their subs.
My epiphany about End Game in SWTOR!

Think you misread the post. It was an argument that the game sucks without X-LFG.

I'm not either pro/con with this issue because if it were implemented, it wouldn't change my gameplay.

That being said, it would simply depend on the groups. There were days in WoW where using LFG was a total nightmare with bad tanks who thought they were God's gift to tanking, ninja looters, DPS who would just post the meters after every fight and point out that he was number one even though he was "standing in the fire". There were other days where the group was so good that I spent the whole morning running with that same group.

If and when they do implement LFG, I'd give it a fair chance. I understand that the anti-LFG group thinks that it will "ruin the community" but looking back on my WoW experience, I think that it was more individual people that ruined it than LFG.

TLDR - LFG won't really affect individual gameplay. You can use it or not use it.
I shot first!
