Free transfers in the future?

i need char transfer payed or not, i dont care.
when i started playing this game bioware said that i should avoid ''the full servers''
so i listened (biggest mistake) and created my characters on a ''heavy'' server.

now, the full servers are the only ones which ever reach ''heavy''
my own server rarely reaches standard nowadays.

my issue is this: i wanted a transfer; they tell me to ''just'' reroll.
IF i would reroll and kiss my 2 lv 50's goodbye. i would have to create a new character; as much as i liked the storylines, im not doing that all over again. so a different class then?

update 1.2 gives you the option to choose a race where you alrdy have a lv 50 from: my level 50's are human and rattataki.

great update, i would LOVE to make a rattataki republic. which gives me 2 options:

1. make a rattataki republic on a dead server (no way)
2. forget about the option of rattataki republic and roll a human or sumthing on a ''heavy'' server.

if i would go for option 2, and after i reach 50 they make transfers available. id be pissed.
so all i need to know is: ARE YOU OR ARE YOU NOT GOING TO MAKE TRANFERS AVAILABLE?!

all i need is a ''never gonna happen'' or a ''sure, were just not sure when'' (also nice to know since im thinking of quitting in this situation)

Daniel Erickson: Character transfers between servers are definitely going to be available in the future and we’ll announce details as soon as we have firm dates.

I assume that they will not wait to long with it and that it is an account transfer so we don't loose our legacy points.

Ill trade all my legacy points for a server transfer/cross realm warzone ques. I can even throw in some money if thats what it takes.

They said in the community Q&A this week that they're coming.

I was in the same boat; I had my high level characters on my old server, and had a few alts I was working on.. but you lose a lot of the fun of being in an MMO when your server is quiet, not to mention finding groups becomes impossible. So, I chose a heavy server and re-rolled, playing a class that I wanted to play but hadn't gotten around to quite yet.

Now.. my character is at 50 on a bustling server, and just surpassed my old character's legacy levels - because even though I don't have all of my alts, or my original 50, I'm running content I never experienced before.. I did pvp dailies, and pvp queues were rarely more than 1-3 minutes - I did FP dailies, repeatedly, and finding groups for them wasn't that difficult, even playing in off hours - same goes for HMs - and I've even found Op pugs.

My friends list has at least 20 active players on it - because I actually ran into people in the game, and ran into the same people repeatedly while I was leveling -- those players eventually becoming this little pocket group to run FPs and heroics and dailies with.

So.. I'm holding out for transfers in anticipation of getting my SI and gunslinger over to my new server, but I'm actually enjoying myself and keeping entertained during the wait.

The benefit being, I found a server I for sure want to move them to, with consistent population, and have established myself on it already (reserved my names as well )

Consider it, if there are other classes you'd like to play, and if like me, you were too bored to keep playing them.

They stated @ Guild Summit that Transfers will work like this:

If you have an existing legacy on the server you intend to transfer to, it will take the highest of the two legacies - so if your main on a quiet server has a level 20 legacy, and your new server has a level 14, the level 20 will replace the level 14. Also, much like with anything else, if your name is taken you'll be prompted to enter a new one.

Things I would concede if I could transfer to a server with my friends and an actual social element

- Free transfers - I'll pay (I'll over pay)
- Character names - I'll find others
- Legacy name - I'll pick a new one
- Legacy points - arghhh, i'd even give this up if necessary regardless of 1.2

Now granted, I don't WANT to give up any of this but I'm a reasonable man. And I'm happy I wasn't the one who had to make a call during early access as to whether or not to stand up more servers so all the new subs could actually get in without a long queue. But that decision meant that when server pops subsided, as they always do after launch, most subscribers would be left with a very lonely in game experience.

I love so much about this game but there is no point in paying a monthly sub for a single player game.

My servers is dying a little everyday. I do need this to happen.

I would have to believe that something they are seriously considering before offering transfers and mergers, is what the active subscription base looks like, and get a REAL NUMBER of active subscriptions and what servers those are really active on.

So if you bought this game all pumped up in December, and purchased a 60 day Game Card at that time, your time just expired on March 19th.

I really like this game, but I don't like never being able to participate in Heroic 4 content.

Last night, there was 4 people on Alderaan for 3 hours.
There were 5 on Balmorra.

How can you even get Social I or Social II, when you have no players to group with?
How can you get signifigant upgrades to your gear for yourself and companions, when you can't run Heroic 4's or FP's because there are population issues?

BW did a great job of - in theory there was a ton of group content for people that wanted to keep their character in the very best gear throughout the entire levelling process, if that is what they wanted to do. But the only way that game design works, is if it is supported with continued efforts from BW/EA to provide robust, flourishing, active servers.

Having 50 servers up that say low/standard population is just stupid. I would rather they shut my entire server down for 3 days, and merge it with 2 others.

So far, this would be the only reason I quit playing SWTOR. Because there is nobody to play with. BW has until May 2nd to fix this problem for me. If not reconciled by then, I will move on to another game.

Furthermore, my Scoundrel that I am leveling is my 2nd. My first is a 50 DPS Sage. My Scoundrel is leveling as Sawbones (Heals). I'm getting pretty sick and tired of healing my Wookie, Bowdaar.

I agree with this. If a player wants to try other types of servers, he would then have to start over his whole entire legacy...
