actually no

I was offering it as a legacy to appease those that wanted it for their alts

I would prefer it stay at 14 and NOT be a legacy

It is one of those things that a character looks forward to.

I have many alts, ( a couple currently under 14th )

You people are overacting.... Im just stating my disappointment with that change, I don’t expect Bioware to change it, I am just disappointed in that direction.
I have a bad feeling about this

I was asking myself this earlier but then it dawned on me that I had to turn off Sprint for a lot of platforming stuff for the harder datacrons. So it needs to remain switchable.

Sorry, I wasn't responding directly to you. there have been other people who have commented here and elsewhere with some more off-the-wall statements, and those are the people I was talking about.

No kidding. I recall in FFXI the quest to get on the airships to travel between cities was an absolute nightmare. Before you got this you had to earn a mount which probably decreased travel between cities to 20min. Before lvl 18 when you had to actually travel on foot - 30 min walking to another city across about 4-5 zones was simply standard.

Western MMO's are carebear games to what the Japanese will put you through. They will grind your tail off for weeks for something super basic and then they will tell you to suck it up and enjoy it while your at it! lol

People on these forums don't hear from a dev in 24 hours and start to commit suicide. Back in FFXI's heyday we wouldn't hear from a dev or get patch notes for 4 MONTHS and that was just normal.

People look forward to it because playing without it sucks. It's exactly the worst reason to look forward to something.

Understood, and it is ok to disagree with me

( chuckle )

I’m not adamant about it, not stamping my feet and threatening to cancel my subscription, I have not said it is a gamebreaker and Bioware are a bunch of LIARS!!!! ( chuckle )

It just is not the direction I would prefer
I have a bad feeling about this

All I'm going to say is that I was making the suggestion to bring sprint out sooner - even perhaps at level 1, way back in beta. You guys forget, already, that feeling of hugeness and not knowing where you're going even on a world like Coruscant - and that MMOs live and breathe on new player retention.

There's no intrinsic moral value to moving slower in worlds as large as this game has. Sorry, there's really none. There's not even any gameplay value.
Endgame gear grinds are not the way.

I look forward to getting my lightsaber, or choosing my AC. Sprint, I look forward to because I HATE not having it. I could live without my lightsaber--vibroswords are perfectly fine. I could live without my AC, tho it'd be boring to level without so many extra abilities & skills. But Sprint? I needs it.

Like many, I started on what was essentially a dead server. 50+ people on Coruscant or the Fleet at peak was fairly rare even back in January. I rolled 8 toons on that server, to try a little of everything, and got two of them up through the entire prologue and one through Chapter 1. Now I've rerolled on a higher-pop server, so I get to enjoy the wonders of 1 thru 13 sans-Sprint all over again. It's not fun the 2nd time through... try the 14th!

Having Sprint at 1 will be fun. It shouldn't be something 'earned'. There's a reason Blizzard lowered mount levels TWICE in the last few years; 40 levels running around on-foot (with many classes having at least some sort of speed boost around 20, but often with side-effects like Hunters getting dazed if struck with Aspect of the Cheetah active) didn't make you a better player, didn't make you hardcore, didn't make you awesome. It made you tired. It made you spend more time traveling between places rather than enjoying the places you were traveling to/from, and no, that's not a slippery-slope "May as well let us teleport to wherever we wanna go whenever we want to!" argument. Lowering the mount levels in WoW made sense. Lowering Sprint here makes sense, too (and I wouldn't be surprised if they lowered piloting skill to 18 or 20 in the next year or so... I'm not sure how Empire-side feels, but when Reps get to Taris around 16, they learn quickly to hate all the running there).

But, like mounts in WoW, if you REALLY prefer to dangle the carrot of 'Sprint at 14' in front of your characters, you'll still be able to: just turn Sprint OFF until you hit 14! Simple!

Heres my opinion.

Yes I do find the achievement for reaching level 14 and getting sprint a great thing in a game. It drives people to level there toons and play in war zones. What I hope they have considered and I'm sure they have is making sprint available at level 1 BUT with a cool down of say 4 or 5 minutes and making the actual ability last say 30 or 45 seconds. You still would have the great satisfaction of making it to level 14 and have it be a toggle ability like it currently is. That way on those long treks on the starter planets won't feel so boring and drawn out. But doesn't make the ability gained at level 14 completely pointless.

That's just my opinion, I do enjoy striving for the next level in order to unlock a certain perk that will make leveling my character more enjoyable. Just my two cents and thoughts on the change.

Just expressing my disappointment with this change

You need to grow up, it is ok for me to express disappointment with a change.

I have complained about very little else with this game as I consider it by far the best MMO on the market today
