Snow and Grass work great in Civil War, regardless of the directions you are facing.

Left and Right work great for Voidstar when referencing from your spawn point, regardless if you are attacking or defending.

Uhh, no. This is where most of the problems are. Even with the game announcing which doors are west and east any time a bomb is planted ever, people have trouble finding what's where.

I don't have this problem. I can figure out all three. I think its pretty much fine as is.

Half the time people mean the 'left side' of the map when they say 'left' and half the time they mean 'left out of the gate'. It really is becoming to be an issue.

Come on people, East and West(map directions) is not that hard to learn, it's like your left and right hand, just make a correlation.

East/West works pretty well on our server in Civil war, and I definitely know what left and right are, even on imperial side.

Voidstar I hear east and west called incorrectly ALL THE TIME

'EAST! EAST' someone says. So I run out the spawn door to east... only to see a message saying the west bomb will detonate in 20 seconds.

its amazing how many people cant tell their left from their right and have to make a thread about it. your spawn is a fixed point, left means left from spawn and right means right from spawn, i would assume thats simple enough but this thread proves me wrong. people can open their maps though and try to figure out which direction they are facing and then translate that into east/west if thats easier..............lawls

That means the map, not relative directions from the spawn. And that would be wrong.

lol, what? Opening the map and hovering over to figure out the names take more time than opening it briefly to see which turret or door is west, which is less than a second. Remember that's what you were suggesting.

But when you use East and West it's always map directions, so it's always based on the map, not your spawn point.

See, people have different concepts when you use Left/Right, this alone should be a reason NOT to use Left/Right when calling out incoming.

But it seems this is where the real debate is, whether or not left/right means from your spawn point, or based on the map.

I guess over time each server will adopt their own way of calling stuff out. I just think using left/right is a bad route due to the confusion it can cause. It's not like this issue will get worse over time, it'll only get better when more and more people get used to how the server is calling them out.

Why people would choose anything else is beyond me.

Because the sun in SWTOR's Alderann pvp warzone does not rise in the east and set in the west. Hence the real meaningless terms are east/west, especially considering you have to open the map to determine east/west with respect to which way you are coming from (republic or empire).



Whereas...everyone should know the blatant difference between the snow area and the grass area being they are completely different looking entirely and simple to find or know the location of in general.





Also voidstar is a tight map and the whole area is visible, meaning someone shouldn't >have< to call east/west, but if they did, why not call left/right since everyone knows that is with respect to spawn. (instead of again opening your map and being useless for however long)



P.S. Anyone else notice that each turret has different colored lasers? I sometimes call out by laser color since anyone with a brain can just look up and instantly know where "red" is or "blue" is.
