You call me a fool but this isn't WoW's population that includes a neverending influx of fifteen year olds. Theres maybe 200-300 players on the server I play and that number hasen't moved. So yeah, keep pretending that you can be a troll and it will never catch up with you in this game as it stands now.
You won't ever be blessed enough to play with me and you are a fool. I've been playing MMOs since 1996 with the same name(DSO, UO, SB, SWG, CoH, GW, AoC, WHO, DCOU, CO, and now SWTOR) and I take no greater joy than destroying the preconceptions of the foolish.

Here are my two cents:

Having a LFG tool in WoW was nice at first until I realized that putting a group together in chat channels created the requirement of having basic social skills to make an instance group. With LFG, while it is easier to form groups, the requirement of those basic social skills is gone.

So, in TOR, not having an LFG tool creates the positive side effect of having less a**hats in your group. I think that's positive and worth the effort of putting a group together.

spamming lf tank and heals for X instance doesn't require any social skills
neither does /w <someguy> tank here
nor does clicking accept or invite.

Sure, if someone is a jerk when they group with me I might not ever play with them again, but odds are other people are going to group with that person no matter what I say (and I don't see why other people should automatically take my side to begin with).

I like the idea of a LFG tool for 2 main reasons.
1. Forming groups as they are now, time required is a wildly inconsistent variable. If I only have 2 hours to play, it's hard to say if that's enough time to run a FP, particularly at mid-levels where there are fewer players looking for the same FP's. A LFG tool would allow me (hopefully) to see approximately how long is needed to form a group. Perhaps even more importantly, if I have to leave the queue due to time, it's much less of a hardship on the people I'm in the queue with than if I were to have a group of 2 others and have to bail on them before we got a 4th.

2. I like the cooperation of playing with other people, and the idea of taking down opponents I wouldn't be able to otherwise. That said, I'm not looking to make friends in this (or any other) game. I'm not the kind of person who will log into a game just to socialize. Being able to get a group of random people together to accomplish 1 clear objective, then disbanding and likely never seeing those people again works great for me.

tl;dr
A LFG tool would be great for people with limited time or who just don't want to get extracurricular with the social aspect. I would prefer a system that tries to match players with others from their server first, but I think a LFG tool is much needed.
Pretty much this!! For me it's also a time issue, i can qeue and still do some grinding!! And just a thought... why not leave the rp ( or some pve/pvp ) servers out of LFD so these ppl can still have their social interaction if they want it. And besides even with a LFD most ppl still prefer to group with their friends or guildies and they aren't forced to use the finder right?

No one's asking for a system like wow where you get a goody bag or tokens for using the lfg system. We just want to be able to run content without having to wait 1 hour+ just to get started. The most difficult part of group content should not be finding a group, it should be the content.
What??? No goodie bags?? /cry

Simply have a LFG tool and a check box that allows you to pick whether you will cross realm.
If you want to croos realm LFG tick box, else not...your choice.

Well done Bioware! You've officially killed any of the low population servers with this decision. And because you can't be arsed to address the underlying issue of population on some servers and give us a proper answer.

/Golfclap on behalf of All players from Uthar Wynn - The handful that remain positive despite your best efforts to **** us.

Edit: Maybe you'll actually read this? **** would that be the day.

It is not in the commercial intrest of BW to have a load of underused servers, it makes commecical sence your server dies, and is turned off.
