If we don't get more character slots, a lot of us are not going to have room for all the characters of different classes or races that we'll want to play.

After seeing the presentation, I already decided to give up my Imp server and create characters on my Republic server, so I can work on legacy levels there.

This is putting a damper on my playing really, we need some answers on whether they are giving us more character slots, so I can choose which characters I will need to delete.
This is a good point because I am an altaholic too, and reaching 50 with my main made this situation more acute because endgame is pretty boring. I find myself making toons on other servers just to play because I am afraid to level up alts on my main server.

Actually you don't have to unless you're trying to get every race in the game unlocked for both factions and then start making alts of those races on the faction they weren't originally slated for. I also split my empire & republic onto different servers and my plan is to make one empire on the republic server and one republic on the empire server for that epic quest chain they said they might put in that spans across factions.

While technically you are correct, there is an undeniable difference in gameplay, flavor and roleplay in certain classes. I would agree with you for the Jedi Knight/Sith Warrior classes. I have a Guardian and wouldn't think of playing a Juggernaut. But there are some AC's I can see myself repeating, warranting more slots.

Bounty hunter is a prime example. Even though it is the technical mirror to the trooper, there are undeniable differences in gameplay and RPG flavor, which is what Bioware seems to be hoping to inject into the genre.

In other words, even though you you can roll up a commando and a powertech to get both AC's, 1 on each side, I can absolutely see why someone would want to repeat the same technical AC mirror on both sides. A commando republic side and a mercenary Empire side. Mecahnically the same, but flavor wise so different as to repeat. More slots please.
How shall I ever understand this world? There is nothing on which it is so hard as poverty, and yet, there is nothing it condemns with such severity as the pursuit of wealth.

They said all of the unlocks will be things you will be able to buy with credits as well.
As having both factions on one server really doesn't give anywhere near as much benefit as the same faction I'll probably be buying the cross faction stuff.
I too would need 16 slots on one server to play both sides. Not to gain all the benefits, but just to share the legacy and play each class.

/Support

I think this is something that should be introduced sooner than later but from what I gathered from the Guild Summit this is not on the cards (and probabily wont be for a long time then).

In my view, I want to have all my chars on the same server. If we consider we have 4 main classes and 2 variations on each along with 2 factions = 16 slots just to have one of each class.

With current limitation of 8 I cannot have all my characters on the one server, unless I do a split of Imps on one and Reps on another.

I understand new races and classes may be in the pipeline too so when these come what options do we have unless we delete existing characters we have created??

From a techincal standpoint it shouldnt be a difficult process to increase the slots but the game would need sufficient capactity to keep the database of info for each additonal character on the server. I dont think they have this at the moment and probabily why they have given no confirmation to this request.

I already have my 8 slots taken, 3 imps and 5 reps but once I level these and finish the stories ... I want to play the rest .. so I am forced to go to another server where my friends/guild etc are not present.

Further to this, being in Asia-Pac zone, we only have one PVE server, one RP-PVE and one PVP which severly limits choice of another server.

I really think this feature should be given more priority by Bioware and hope the community supports this too. Enough support here in the forums may force a change in stance at Bioware on this matter.

Cheers.

The thing is that's what you got to do in other games. When new races & classes come out and you got all your character slots filled you're S.O.L.

Having filled all 8 slots 4/4 with the classes for the story, and my lowest level is getting his ship, I'd rather not have to do all that over again or delete characters I've developed when new creation options unlock. I don't think we need a full 16, but an extra few slots CAN NOT hurt, so there's no reason not to give them.

That's not an argument against, more like another reason to give more slots. XD

The Legacy System as it was described during the summit looks extremely cool, and anyway, without any calculus of numbers of abilities or species or whatever I do already feel blocked by the 8 slots right now. I'd like at least 2 to 4 more.

Not especially to maximize anything stat wise or ability wise, just because I'd like to create that "family" and cross faction brothers and sisters and such. Also exploring the same story but once light side and once dark side, and many more reasons...

I was just making a statement. However... Each character you create takes up space to store said data, and even though we are allowed to create say 50 characters, few of us will make that many. That space wasted because you are now making a second Jedi Sage because you can now make it as a Sith Pureblood. Let's be honest you'll probably only log onto it to perhaps do some crafting. You're not going to be playing it anymore. Wasted space and money IMO.

Right now I got republic on one server and empire on another. I'll be making one character of the opposing faction just to do any epik quest that requires cross faction. All other unlocks I'll buy. Then I still have character slots to make that sweet unlocked combo I was drooling over.
